In 1989 Kyosho released the Sideways, their 1/10 2wd electric entry into the world of Sprint Cars. Based on the Ultima 2wd and its formed aluminum chassis with pressed in strengthening ribs, die-cut lightening voids and molded EX66 nylon components provided the Sideways with a durable, race ready platform. Carried over unchanged the lower a-arm and fixed plastic camber link four-wheel independent suspension system with inline carriers, adjustable tie rods and twin bellcrank steering system with built-in servo saver up front bolted in under a plastic radio plate that held the transverse mounted battery and remaining electronics in place while also doubling as a chassis stiffening upper deck. Plate aluminum shock towers front and rear supported a set of aluminum capped, plastic bodied, oil-filled, coilover shocks and at the tail end was Kyosho's familar aluminum motor plate equipped transmission with bevel geared differential turning metal dogbones supported by nylon hub carriers. New was the Winged Outlaw style lexan Sprint Car body with realistic dyeable white nylon roll cage and "Centerline" style single piece white nylon wheels wrapped in 320/35/20-G front and 585/25/20-G rear Bridgestone Potenza radial pattern tires. A mini front bumper, exhaust headers, and helmet for the molded in driver, LeMans Stock 05 motor, rotary style mechanical speed controller and full bushings were also included in the unassembled kit sold less radio:
