Kyosho Outlaw Rampage

In 1991 Kyosho released the Outlaw Rampage 1/10 gas powered 2wd stadium truck. Based on their 1/10 2wd Ultima Outlaw stadium truck the Rampage eschewed batteries and an electric motor for the scream of a nitro engine racing into the history books as Kyosho was the first company to offer a gas-powered stadium truck. The powerplant wasn’t the only change to the Outlaw however as the Rampage ditched the molded plastic chassis of its electric sibling for an aluminum pan style chassis. The remainder of the injection molded nylon components, from its long lower a-arms and adjustable camber links front and rear; aluminum capped, oil-filled, coilover shocks held up by aluminum towers, twin bellcrank steering system with built-in servo saver nestled under an aluminum top plate, and adjustable tie rods would carry over unchanged. Unique though, was its drivetrain. Powered by an O.S. CZ-R(K) .12 motor mounted right in the middle of the truck its forward-facing centrifugal clutch with a pinion and spur primary drive connected to a prop shaft that ran back to a slipper mounted on a belt final drive before entering the bevel gear differential equipped transmission and exiting through a pair of steel dogbones. 505/55/22 Bridgestone Sand Super pin style tires were wrapped around deeply offset single piece nylon wheels which spun on metal bushings.
