A friend sent me these... He said it was a prototype car? Looks homemade to me but I don't know about many brands of other cars besides associated, does it looks like something pulled from another vehicle? check out the box, suppossedly came straight from Associated, long time ago.

Homemade. The channel made by soldering together copper coated fibreglass isn't something an r/c company would do when they have the ability to machine a channel from nylon or delrin or vacform one in lexan.

Front knuckles are Kyosho Optima which didn't appear until late 85, long after MIP had already had their 4wd conversions on sale, so unless the front uprights have been replaced this was produced later than 85.

This isn't like the Roger Curtis 4wd RC10, which looks like this, although it is obvious it's what this one was based on.

counter gear stuff looks to be on the wrong side to be the curtis car, but still an interesting car

We were at a big RC car race and Roger asked Jamin' Jay Halsey if he would race it. Of course Jay said YES!!!

It never even finished a qualifying run, even tho it was going fast enough, because the 4wd chain kept jumping off. We never did anything with it after that.

As for your one, who knows, it looks like a bitsa to me. I really like it though and have sent pm.

Oh, I just thought/noticed, it's strange that the wheelbase has been shortened on this car especially as it is chain drive and you could theoretically adjust the chain length to fit the wheel base...

Nice find. You may want to PM a link to this to Steve in the event he does not get to surf our site much. There could be a very interesting story behind this car. Well, there is already a very interesting story behind it but it could be linked back to Associated. Who knows.

It's definitely not Associated and neither is the other one I posted. It would be nice if there was some back story though.

his brother bought it from a guy from associated 10 + years ago he said, waiting to hear back from him who it was.

By the looks of the welds on that chain guide, it looks like steel? Is it? If so, bet that is heavy (and WAYYYYY overkill).
