Grabbed this rough XX CR for a decent price, not minty but not beat to death either. Starting to dig into it now. More to come

Tackling the transmission first. The XXX 2.43 idler is the same as the 2.19 idler, as is the top shaft.
This case is of course cracked in two places (get the feeling that they are all prone to that) the internals look ok, just dirty and dry...so-

Guess this is typical front bulkhead failure along the mold line, just the outer two. I understand the Sabula Tech one to be outstanding for vintage racing, so I'll get some of those

This thing was filthy....
I have to make a Factory Works order for towers, battery strap and trans brace for this tomorrow, I need to polish or replace all the hinge pins, replace all the ball studs and screws, order some turnbuckles.
I would like to get ahold of a 2.61 trans case and see the difference on track from the 2.19 to the 2.61... but I already have a damn good idea what it would be.
Have plenty of shocks built for it, still hunting for the .6 threaded bodies though.

Nice!
Looks like a solid base to start from.
Cracked front bulkhead - check!
Cracked gearbox housing - check!
These are to be expected on a used XX.
Sabula for front bulkhead.
JC racing for front arms and wheels. (I believe JC and Factory Works are working together).
Dragon punch also has XX parts.
Looking forward to more updates.

Good to know one JC for the front arms, that was (other than trans cases) the one spare I couldn't seem to locate. Going to use one of Jose Zayas' 10 to 12mm adaptors for now, the simplest thing if you asked me would be to just make the front axel with a 12mm hex instead of the 10mm...but that's just me-

Little bit more done, all cleaned up, list of needed stuff compiled- added SC10 rear 12mm standard hexes in the rear to check for hub spacing and use the B7 wheel, added AE B4.2 front axles and SC10 front 12mm hex for modern wheels (B7)
Just about 3mm wider than stock (Left is mock up, right is stock 10mm hex) have some shiny CVDs but need to find some Losi CVD axles..
More to come-

if you're still looking for a trans case I have an uncracked one. I took it's guts for my JRX Pro SE build so now it's just laying around on my bench.

Getting there a little more, have a bunch of cool things inbound this week and a few ideas to try. Hopefully get a full shakedown by the end of the week.... at least that's the plan.
Tried to strip the shell of its paint, but after 3 days only the yellow would come off, so masking and a rework will do for now while I test.
This buggy has come a long way....

Parts day
Moto Obscura remake B4.2/SC10 axles and B4.2 front hex make a new 12mm XX CR front end that takes all the B7 wheels I already have!
CVDs with AE B4 axle and SC10 Rear hexes mean the same in the rear (and only one wheel nut size now!)
Took a chance on an aluminum steering rack rhe looked like the right one...and it is! Need to get the correct bearings though...but huge luck.for me on this

Body rework (other than the incoming sticker set)
Best I could pull off, I'm not hating it...

I'm a big fan of the customworks ball cups, they are nice and free, have a hole for the ball stud to be removed without taking the cuo off. I also like the losi plastic ball cups, and the extra rigid variation. 22 buggy 3.5mm turnbuckles are on this one

Shakedown tomorrow with the 2.61 transmission, with a new aluminum diff gear! Four of us with XX buggies will be at our Winter Super 7 series finale. Pretty cool'
