This will be my first proper SE build. I have been on the hunt for a very nice donor for a few years. I was fortunate to buy this beautiful roller from Mikea96. Thanks buddy! It had a ton of brand new parts, including the chassis. It also had some nice RPM goodies.

It was a beautiful car as is, but I want to take it to the next level. I have torn it down and the rebuild will begin soon. I will be replacing any used parts, and adding some changes and upgrades. I am still undecided on RPM arms F&R, or going with all standard arms.

Late 92' race build with all the correct parts and mods- with the 2.19 retrofit transmission....how could you not!

I'm very happy this car went to you and look forward to seeing what you do with it.

Slight change of plans. After seeing the SE racer that RogueIV built, I decided I needed to build a modern SE myself. That means this NIP chassis that I had squirreled away will get opened and used on this build. The existing chassis, while new, has a bit of shelf wear, and will better suite the modern SE car.

This SE will be vintage correct with a good amount of upgrades. These gold titanium hinge pins are a favorite of mine. The Protoform SE body should be a good fit to the build.

That MIP bar is great on track, especially if you run the bar on top of the bellcranks- also the LXT castor blocks are the same as the Jammin Steering Enhancement kit, they're a little beefier and allow axle height adjustment with the stock steering arms...last trick I found on the front end is the Customworks front +/- .150 axles are drop in, and add just enough increase in track width to mellow the chassis roll on super high bite

Nice car and NIP parts you have. That original chassis is clean af for a first gen SE.

Good info. Much appreciated. I will be taking this into account for the modrrn SE build for sure. I think I had known about the LXT castor blocks but forgotten it. Thanks so much for the reminder! I'm looking forward to getting both of these built.

This little beauty arrived today.

I got the transmission built. I used a 64 pitch gear set. I'm a big fan of the 64 pitch gears. I couldn't help myself from adding the aluminum hydra drive screws. They really bring back the early 90's neon feel.

That's going to be one smooth transmission!

I still think it's funny that they have us put those bearings under the spring with the hydradrive when the spring and the case are fixed in relation to each other.

Yeah, the transmission feels super smooth. Good point on the bearings. I guess they don't really serve much purpose, huh?

I opened the NIP SE chassis. This is the later version with the cut outs for the retrofit transmission and servo saver. I'm using the upgraded ball bearing steering arms, combined with the MIP carbon steering link and JG steering stiffener. The stiffener probably isn't needed with these arms, but I like how it looks. Vintage Trinity aluminum ballstuds will be used throughout.

The MIP instructions say to flip and notch the steering arms. I decided against doing so for a esthetic reasons, and not wanting to dremel a brand new arm. I also don't see the benefit of raising up the drag link a little by flipping the arms.

Steering mounted. Arms built up with Tecnacraft titanium gold hinge pins, gold e-clips, and Trinity aluminum ballstuds.
