i have been working on this AYK buffalo project for a little while, cleaning & polishing this old buggy when i bought it i was expecting it to come in better condition.
I have ran in to a problem i can't fix. The front suspension mounts came striped i tried filling it with Jb weld then drill & tap it, works for a minute then it just lets go. These are the last pieces of the buggy i need to finish. I made a rear suspension arm mount from cutting a scorpion roll bar and drilling though the side for the pin, work's great and looks good to i have attached a picture.
I plan on using yellow kyosho assault wheels for the project & a optima body.Any way if any body has two front pieces i would gladly pay for these or if theres any parts i have i could trade just pm me.

Damn I love these things - just cant get enough of them.

Kyosho Scorpions and these things are works of art.

Keep up the good work - the effort is well worth it mate.

First things first: your resto is looking very good, car looks better than new now!

I think you'd have better luck using some epoxy glue instead of the JB weld, let it dry enough, drill and tap like you did... I'm afraid you'll have a very hard time sourcing these two parts alone, good luck and don't give up!

You are right about those parts indeed!

I had 4 cars - new built that needed only these parts ....I got sick of trying to find them, so I parted out the cars to fund other projects. They are very very hard to find.

Oddly enough - a friend who has access and the skills on a lathe said it would not be too hard at all to replicate the parts.....now he tells me!

well i have tried a local welding shop to tig weld up the 3mm holes so i can drill and tap them but they melted one piece so i have made these short rear frt. arm mounts from a old 7mm kyosho optima rail i had left over , used the orignal part as a guide then cut and drilled and tapped these two pieces they fit nice and tight now, so i polished them up.take a look..

well as i keep repairing this buggy i decided to tap out the frt mounts to 4mm instead of the 3mm which was a perfect idea, the result is a tight fit and it worked perfectly.Some pictures of tonights progress.

Another option for repairing the threads would be to buy a 3mm HeliCoil threaded insert kit. The parts will be good as new after that.

Well i have finally mounted the wheels, It's slowly getting there i have noticed that the spindles move about a inch alllowing the wheel to "flop" around kind of makes the wheel seem sloppy,It's like there play in the lower arm where the spindle sits, Is this normal .I know a few of you guys on here have this buggy. Just unsure if it normal or not. Here is a picture .

the "flop" thing is totally normal, it's due to the upper link config. it's the same on mine

Just a little Sunday update the chassis work is almost done just need some dogbones then finished , i have started on the body , it was a mess with drilled holes and cracks. I have decided to paint on top and repair as needed here's a few pics at least the body work and 1 st coat of primer is done. I am going to sand it and re prime it just to make sure it's right before paint.

I'd finsih it off with chrome decals, or maybe a black and yellow paintscheme: no degrades, just crisp lines.

Very nice job I love the old cars they looked more like real cars. not like todays cars that have no style.
