In 1997 Kyosho brought a new 1/10 4wd Nitro Monster Truck to market, the Wild Dodge Ram. The Ram shared its mechanicals with the Field Baja Beetle which was released at the same time, but neither were based on a previously existing platform. Their new underpinnings consisted of a full-length aluminum plate chassis with side rail kickups to which the four-wheel independent lower a-arm and fixed camber link suspension was mounted from the underside for maximum ground clearance. Plastic shock towers front and rear extended above the chassis and held the oil-filled plastic bodied ring lock coilover shocks in place at all four corners while guidance was provided by an offset steering servo actuated twin bellcrank steering system with built in servo saver and adjustable tie rods. The suspension at both ends attached to split case sealed gearboxes containing bevel gear differentials that were shaft driven from the most unique component on the vehicle, Kyosho's QRC transmission. The QRC or Quick Reversing Clutch was operated by the throttle servo, when the trigger on the transmitter was pull back the throttle servo opened the carb and power was sent through the pinion and spur primary drive to a twin gear final drive that extended down through the chassis and spun the aforementioned driveshafts. When the throttle trigger was pushed forward the throttle servo turned the opposite direction, closing the throttle and moving a clutch from the forward two gear set to a three gear reverse set allowing the vehicle to back up. Being clutch operated actuating reverse while going forward would act as a drag brake and as such the Ram and the Beetle were not fitted with a traditional brake system. Once power made its way through the drivetrain however it was sent out by a set of dogbones to the 2.4 inch single piece plastic wheels and spiked rubber monster truck tires. Kyosho's GX11x motor, muffler, recoil starter, flip top gas tank, sealed radio box, front and rear bush guards, spring loaded camlock body mounts and clear lexan body were included with the unassembled kit, which was sold less electronics and radio:

I only recently found out that the body I bought for my RC10 GT, back in the late 90's, is the Wild Dodge Ram body:

Also have a Dakota and Durango body from those years.

I still have my original owner '98 Durango 4X4, never finished the RC body to match it though.

Of course not... you've been too busy lately building GT's and Vettes and Buggys!

But maybe an Enduro Crawler chassis could be in the Durango's future
