Hi guys, new to this forum, trying to post some pictures, hope this works, just finished restoring this Lazer ZX, had you use a Lazer ZXR bodyset, waiting on a friend to send me some repro ZX bodysets, I've got another ZX that I will use the body on.
Wheels and shocks are from 3 Racing.
Cheers Rob

Nice, a ZX with zxr shell. I still think today the ZX had a better diff for carpet racing than the later ball diff.

Youve done a good job, just dont race it with the shock towers on as they bend like paper and then you will need a new gear box which you wont find. Still looks gr8 for showing off on a shelf somewhere.

anyway if you need more knowledge look up radiocontrolzone and there is all the info required. There are a lot of collectors/racers there as well.

thanks Guys , the wheels are from 3 Racing, I brought them from RC Mart, they are very cheap, thanks for the info on the shock towers, didn't know they bent so easy, I've got a few sets so it sounds like I'll be changing them, I've also got quite a few spares for this buggy (gearbox cases about 3 sets) so I will still run it and hopefully enjoy it as well.

How's the width of this beauty?

The current ZX5 wheels have way less offset than some of the older kysoho wheels, making the car slimmer upto around half an inch

Hey Robster - looks a treat mate - nice job.

Think I may have some carbon towers spare - not 100% - but I will check....I run mine regularly - and the thing is still more than competitive! (although mine is a ZXR)

Chat soon mate

I think your talking about the ZX-5 SP edition and yes they are narrower (I think) but the narrower the car the more rubbish the handling gets. I use the standard ZX-5 wheels on my ZX and ZXS and the width is identical.

However I would recommed the front end needs the castor block on the inner hole so pushing the castor block further out of the wishbone, but to do this you need the longer front end UJ's and this makes the car a totally different beast, more driver friendly and stable, plus quicker in and out of corners.

Also here is a worthy piece of advice. Look up http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk and look up the Lazer section. have a good look at all the options (steering ZX plate thats straight is better than the ZXR by the way) and get the half circular front shock tower, as in ten years of using one I never managed to break it, and thats three club events a week and a major event every weekend for 50 weeks a year, so proves its strong.

Hope this helps

thanks for the feedback guys, Kyosho Fan 2, thanks for the website, I've got a carbon front shock tower, I'll need to invest in a rear one, Also Chewbacca, I've got some nude shots for you, and I've got some shots of my Lazer ZXR that I use to run (Body and wheels were never used when I ran it)

Hey KF2, you're right ofcourse: I was comparing the ZX-5 wheels to smaller diameter wheels of the original lazer, not the later ZX and ZXR ones. My bad.

Tip for you guys: I used some of the newest kyosho Mip style axles on my ultima and they still fit great. I think the lazer U-J's were thesame length and other dimensions as the ultima ones, so next time you need replacement U-J's take a close look at these.
Watch carefull though as there are multiple lengths and the part that goes through the bearings seems too short for some of them.
