Bodies For HT Frog Prince?

Anyone have actual experience with bodies that will fit / look right on a Hot Trick Frog Prince chassis? My chassis is relatively complete except for both means of body mounting; I don't have the side angle aluminum for buggy mounting, nor do I have the "erector set" looking mounts for the "truck" bodies. My original plan was to run a Mud Blaster (Brat) body, but the HT kit extends the WB from about 9 7/8" to about 11", and the truck bodies don't look right to me at that point. Then I went looking through the stash of buggy bodies, and I haven't found a single thing yet that will mount and look okay IMO. A couple of RC10 variants are looking the best so far, but too generic for me. Then I have been through all my Tami bodies, Losi bodies, DAHMs Ultra, Bolink Funco, Sprint car bodies, etc etc etc, and I am not finding anything that will really work. The body has to go wide near the front so the chassis doesn't stick out, but the rear shocks and motor are the real issues. The problem is mainly with the shocks, as they exist much higher than the usual bump-out portion of most buggy bodies, including RC10s. I don't mind the shocks sticking out the back, and that is completely expected, but their height is limiting a lot of bodies.

Any real ideas as to what will fit? I will have to create mounts for whatever I use, as I don't really expect to run into either original mounting platforms in the near future, or for a price that I would pay.

Ok so I'm not saying it's right, but as it's hard to find any red prince with a body- here is mine. This is a RC10 Unser body off tbg. It's not a great fit, but also not the worst. The height is ok. The motor, well... It would stay cool I guess.

Yea, and then you are too wide for the "velco" buggy body mounts also. Nothing fits this thing!

I LOVE the Bolink rear wheels though!!! This may end up with the same.

Yeah I didn't figure that would be the way you'd want to go but rather provide some reference. It's not my favorite either but the best I had found at the time. Might have a look at the playtron lynx/doberman body since it's motor sets high as well.

I can't even find an image without doing a deep dive on Google but what was the "Alien" like after market body for the Hornet that was maybe Parma made? That may fit.🙅

I sold Dinglem a Red Prince with this body that used the side bracket Velcro mounting. No idea what the body is…maybe someone can identify it.

Well, I figured out my high shock angle was because the PO didn't have short enough shocks, so they customized the old body mounts into shock extensions. Getting some proper shocks on there, and mounted in the correct location will lay the shocks down a bit. Some Fan RC golds in all four corners will probably be the ticket.

I stopped by my ex-hobby shop owner buddy's place today, and looked through his buggy bodies, and came home with about six potentials. After some super rough test fitting, I think I am done to a McAllister Racing Roadrunner and a MRP Toad.

The Toad is so close, and looks the part, but the body will end up running into the motor/trans. I will have to leave the body up off the chassis 1/2-3/4" to clear, or cut the body quite a bit.

The Roadrunner is a bit wide for the chassis, but I think will clear everything without having to cut much. I just think it looks just overall too big.

The creative cutting for the shocks opens up some other candidates!

Cool project you have there! The Red Prince is a really trick and rare gem from HT 8)
Had the same problem with mine. The high fitting of the motor and wide inclined shock shock setup certainly gives some limitations on good body fitments.
Ended up with the Unser, until I recently decided to turn it into a truck...
Planning to use the Parma Blazer (#10201).
Talking of Parma and buggy shells - the "Stinger" (#10214) might work (The blue "Alien" above mentioned by THEYTOOKMYTHUMB).

Playtron Lynx/Doberman. VW Beetle body. Parma AMC Sprit, or Mudboss. Parma/Bolink coupe in a dirt modified or Fangio style. Custom sand rail tube cage.

EDIT: Tamiya Bigwig.

EDIT #2: Nikko Dandy Dash.
