This must be my like 35th or so grasshopper/hornet build lol. I kinda didn't know where to stop, it almost didn't get the aluminum gearbox but I'm so glad I did it. Then I started thinking about the aluminum chassis too but I think that's too far

As with most of my recent rere Tamiya builds I added a 3d printed mechanical speed control and resistor because when you look in the window of a Tamiya you need to see it. I also printed a dummy 4 cell battery holder for the same reason.

The front end is a copy of the Cyclone/Manx front end, I have a new in bag chrome set but can't waste it on a rere.

You could try to get one of those grr chassis for it. And then it would be all aluminum!

Which mod motor is it being overpowered with?

Yeah I'm not crazy about those, but I did ask my machinist buddy if he would machine me one if I draw it up. He is pretty good at what he does I think a billet tub would be just perfect for this one. Btw, his first was a grasshopper and mine was a hornet. We met in 2nd grade.

Love it the speed controller and radio battery etc are really effective . The Grasshopper was the first car I bought with my own money and it's got great memories . The idea of a billet chassis is such a way over the top cool idea .... Such a waste and yet not

This thing will dominate the 17.5T carpet spec world. No doubt in my mind.

In the 80s, I didn't know these Tamiya manuals were 3 speed and reverse jam.

That's part of the reason, the RC10 was so successful, with the smoother forward steps/control with their manual speed control.
