GoMachV's Grasshopper build

This must be my like 35th or so grasshopper/hornet build lol. I kinda didn't know where to stop, it almost didn't get the aluminum gearbox but I'm so glad I did it. Then I started thinking about the aluminum chassis too but I think that's too far

As with most of my recent rere Tamiya builds I added a 3d printed mechanical speed control and resistor because when you look in the window of a Tamiya you need to see it. I also printed a dummy 4 cell battery holder for the same reason.

The front end is a copy of the Cyclone/Manx front end, I have a new in bag chrome set but can't waste it on a rere.

You could try to get one of those grr chassis for it. And then it would be all aluminum!

Yeah I'm not crazy about those, but I did ask my machinist buddy if he would machine me one if I draw it up. He is pretty good at what he does 😜 I think a billet tub would be just perfect for this one. Btw, his first was a grasshopper and mine was a hornet. We met in 2nd grade.

Love it :!: the speed controller and radio battery etc are really effective . The Grasshopper was the first car I bought with my own money and it's got great memories . The idea of a billet chassis is such a way over the top cool idea .... Such a waste and yet not :D

This thing will dominate the 17.5T carpet spec world. No doubt in my mind.

In the 80s, I didn't know these Tamiya manuals were 3 speed and reverse jam.

That's part of the reason, the RC10 was so successful, with the smoother forward steps/control with their manual speed control.
