Tamiya New Crew Lineup 1994

Having developed a plethora of well performing and scale looking models, from on road racers to off road roughhousers, Tamiya presented their crew of kits to hobbyists in this ad from 1994:

F103: 1/10 2wd electric Formula 1 race car released in 1993. Evolution of the 1992 F102. Reshaped black fiberglass chassis. Unitized upper and lower arms & coil over kingpin front spindles. Z-bend tie rods & ballcups, direct mounted servo saver, centrally located servo mount. Molded plastic transvers battery mounts attached the rear t-bar. Undampened coilover spring assembly with oiled multi-disk rear suspension dampening system affixed to the chassis top plate. New four-piece plastic motor pod supported the 540 motor, pinion/spur direct drive, and ball diff rear axle. Plastic wheels with taped on foam tires, and clear lexan Formula One body. The unassembled kits included molded front and rear wings, Mabuchi RS540 motor, & full bearings. Available in 6 different body styles. Ferrari 412T1 pictured.

TA02 Desert Truck: 1/10 4wd electric off-road truck released in 1994. Based on the molded ABS TA02 chassis combined with shorter arms, camber links, and uprights of the TA01 platform with flipped rear arms for a longer wheelbase. TA01 dual bellcrank, spherical ended adjustable tie rods, & direct mounted servo saver steering. Plastic bodied oil-filled coilover CVA shocks with clip in spring spacers and red plastic shock towers. Red gearcases housed a ball diff transmission in the rear and bevel gear diff up front connected by the TA02’s shorter double eyelet propshaft and TA01 plastic ended dogbones front and rear. Silver finished single-piece five spoke wheels with 12mm hex mounts, BFG Radial Mud Terrain T/A tires, and clear lexan Trophy Truck style body. Each unassembled kit included a Mabuchi RS-540 motor, small bumpers front and rear, and a full set of bushings. Available in 3 different body styles. Chevrolet S10 pictured.

FF01: 1/10 front wheel drive electric on-road race car released in 1994. Based on the molded ABS TA02 platform. Four-wheel lower a-arm/camber link suspension, dual bellcrank, spherical ended adjustable tie rods, & direct mounted servo saver steering. Plastic bodied oil-filled coilover CVA shocks with clip in spring spacers and molded shock towers. Molded radio deck and rear bulkhead expension. Pinion and spur primary drive front mounted gearcase with ball differential and metal dog bones. 12mm hex drive plastic wheels wearing rubber tires varied based on the model, as did the clear lexan body. The unassembled kits included a Mabichi RS-540 motor and full bushings. Available in 16 different body styles. Ford Mondeo BTCC pictured.

TA02: 1/10 4wd on-road car released in 1993. Evolution of the TA01 and produced in a standard, short wheelbase, wide track, and truck variations. Constructed of molded ABS plastic with shorter open tub chassis. Red gearcases held the four-wheel independent suspension system with longer front and rear swept lower a-arms under fixed camber links. Dual bellcrank steering system with spherical ended adjustable tie rods and direct mounted servo saver and shorter blue front hubs. Plastic bodied oil-filled coilover CVA's with clip-in spring spacers hung from red plastic towers. Mechanical speed control was abandoned for electronics in the TA02. Side loading transverse battery powered the mid-mounted 540 motor. Shorter double eyelet propshaft connected the otherwise unchanged rear mounted ball differential transmission and front mounted bevel gear differential spinning plastic tipped dogbones up front with new metal dogbones out back. Wheels, tires, clear lexan bodies, and lexan interiors varied by model though each unassembled kit included a Mabuchi RS540 motor, front and rear bumpers, and full bushings. Available in nearly 30 different body styles. Mercedes-Benz AMG C-Class DTM D2 pictured.

CC-O1: 1/10 4wd electric off-road truck released in 1993. New line of true to scale off-road vehicles. ABS plastic chassis with molded in fender wells and lower front gearcase mount. Lower a-arm/camber link independent front suspension, dual bellcrank, spherical ended adjustable tie rods, & direct mounted servo saver steering. Four link solid rear axle. Plastic body oil-filled coilover CVA shocks with adjustable spring collars. Longitudinally mounted 540 motor, bevel gear differential & metal dogbones up front, universal driveshaft & lockable bevel gear rear differential. Single piece plastic wheels, rubber mud tires, clear lexan body & associated accessories varied by model. The unassembled kits included a mechanical speed controller, Mabuchi RS-540 motor, & bushings. Available in 5 different body styles. Jeep Wrangler pictured.
