What pinions are you all using?

I have 2 different RC10’s nearing completion, one with a 10.5t Hobbywing Justock and the other with a 17.5t motor.

I had a 23 and a 25t 48dp pinion lying around but seem quite restricted in how the motor is orientated and guess I can only fit something like a 20 and maybe a 28.

I am using the FanRC Stealth but believe the dimensions are identical to AE.

Keen for any advice before I buy some more pinions that don’t fit!

With brushless, you might have to switch to a slightly smaller spur in order to get your desired gear ratio.

Interesting link…

So 19,20,or 21 should fit in the small range and 28-30 in the larger.

I did not know I was restricted until I tried to fit one.

21 or 30 recommended for the 17.5 with a * by one.

I think I’ll experiment and get one of each.

Thanks

21 is for dynamic timing
30 is for blinky

For 17.5 that is....

6.08 FDR? Man.... I'm at 5.61 FDR at 43* on a Trinity Slot 2 17.5 with a 30mm fan and with NC summer indoor racing (no AC at our track) I'm under 140F on the motor in a 6 minute heat. They're gearing conservatively. That B4 slipper plates setup takes a 72T spur easily and opens up gearing options

I’m using a Justock esc / motor and if I race it will be in restricted classes so blinky it is.
Having said that there is talk of switching to 13.5 so I may get the 28 as well and see what difference, if any, I notice when it is on my 17.5 while practicing.
