OK I know you all have probably gone over this but I am relatively new what is the best way to remove the glued offroad tires? I heard some people talk about useing an oven? I dont know but I am just tired of loseing rims. thanks

I preffer the oven method. Put them on a baking sheet, cook them at 350 deg. for 10 mins., flip, 5 mins on the other side, and they should pop right off. Were some gloves and be carefull of the steam from inside the tires. It is a little stinky. You can almost eliminate the smell by doing three things. Clean the tires and rims good first, keep the kitchen exhaust fan running, and as soon as you pull them out of the oven, take them outside to work on getting them off, and to let them cool.

does this destory the Tire??

I have litterally done this hundreds of times, and have only ever lost one tire, A pro-line sand paw. It kinda half melted, and when I pulled on it a little it deformed and never went back. The other one was fine. So it's possible, but pretty safe I think. The tires will tear easier when they are hot, so you have to be careful getting them of the rims. If they are still stuck to the rims a little, don't tug on them too hard, just stick them back in the oven for a few minutes and eventually they will just fall right off. I've had some tires take about 30 mins in the ove to fully release, but usually 10-15 will do it.

Ive done the Oven trick a little, and ripped 2 tires trying to get them off while still hot. Be VERY careful.

Whats NEVER failed me is the ACETONE Method. Soak em overnight, and try em. If they done come right off, soak em a little more. Depending on the Glue Job, I have gotten em off in as little as 4-5 hours. Its TOO easy, as long as you have the patience to wait on them.

does the ACETONE Method take the die out of the rims? or make them soft? thanks

Acetone is the best. It beats the oven method hands down. Just read up about what plastics it is safe for on the web. e.g. it is safe for nylon based wheels but not abs plastic so that's most all off-road wheels from back in the day except Tamiya. It removes the glue from both wheels and tires and leaves them clean. It is fine for dye. Dyed wheels mean they are nylon based.

It's mostly the fumes from the Acetone that break down the glue so you don't even have to use a ton of it. Just put an inch or 2 in the bottom of a sealable container and put a few bricks in the bottom then put the tires on top of the bricks. Seal it up and pull them off later. Easy peasy...

I find the fume method very slow and that soaking works best. If left for say a week, all trace of the glue is removed.

I had great results using Acetone. Just as others have said, the tires just peeled off and were nice and clean! I recommend wearing rubber gloves just to be safe.

+1 on the acetone. I haven't bought 1/10 gas truck wheels in a long while now.

I've heard the early JRX2 wheels don't like the stuff, but I have yet to try them. Anybody melt the orange 5 spokes with this method?

Well it is a solvent so it will remove the grease from your hands and depending on your skin sensitivity and how long your exposure is it can be damaging.

It has other interesting side-effects too...just wear gloves, goggles and a mask, as with most things.

+2 for ACETONE. I have been using acetone on all my wheels and its true that the Losi JRX2 orange 5 spoke rims dont like the stuff at all. I usually leave mine overnight and this works a treat. The ZAP glue i use to mount the tyres is completely gone. When the JRX2 rim went in,the following day there was only a tyre left and this soft orange junk left on the bottom of the container.
