Hello to all. Well, after a short stint with an RC10 Gold Tub that I was able to get and moderately restore last year, (I sold it eventually! Why oh why?!?!?, these buggys are so hard to come by from around here in the Philippines!), I came across this RC10 Graphite, still, locally. A new friend had kept this from his racing days in 1989, and has agreed to swap it with a co-axial RC micro heli that I have (About $60 in value). I will be getting my hands on it tomorrow morning and am now very excited to start cleaning it up and restoring it. Aside from the box stock kit, it comes with a Stealth Transimission (still in box), pink 2.2 rear wheels (I think these are Yokomos?) and an old Tekin ESC. Here are some pics of it that he sent me. Thanks for the welcome guys! I was able to get the buggy last Saturday. It looks complete and in good shape. White parts quite discolored though and the metal parts have rust on them. Planning to dye the white parts black. Elbow grease should take care of the rust. I'll be taking better quality pictures to share before I take it apart.

By the way, the body on this version, is this the Viper body available on Tower now?

Actually, that's the Protech II body. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued.

Can someone help me out on how the stealth transmission should be mounted on the chassis? (turned out to be used and not new) The instructions that came with it does not go to that extent. Only assembly of the tranny. Does the metal plate in the picture (1st pic) have to be placed on like that? Or was that supposed to be just a template? I think the previous owner installed the stealth tranny with the plate in between.

If that does not go in between, I think he made a mistake of drilling in holes that are too large! Screws will go right thru! (2nd pic) If this is the case, I might just stick with six gear.

someone drilled the holes out WAY to big. that metal plate is actually just a template to drill the holes, not to mount the trans.

Thanks scr8p. Tsk, that ruined that chassis for the stealth tranny! I'll just go with the six gear. The stealth is missing some clutch parts anyway.

Scr8p, do you think if I filled thel holes and re-drilled, it will hold? Picked up the idea from your chassis restoration posts using the 3M stuff.

they would definetly hold if refilled and carefully redrilled..

ya, they should hold. there's 2 things i would do to know they won't be an issue:

1) use a graphite or aluminum trans brace. there will be a lot less flex than there would be with a nylon one.

2) use a rear motor guard. that will give the motor plate something to attach to.

even without doing that, i don't see a problem, but there's nothing wrong with a little insurance.

that 3m stuff is pretty good. i mounted an entire graphite nose plate to a graphite chassis using that stuff and it hasn't let go yet. but, i haven't driven it head on into a curb, or off the roof of my house to make it happen, neither.
