Rarest of the RARE

I have been a member now for a little while always checking up on the site it blows my mind to see what some of this stuff is worth also how many different ways there are to build a rc10. So my question is what are some of the rarest things out there? I seen what technacraft wheels can do to a man and also what a 4X4 conversion kit goes for and watched some NIB 6 gears sell are they the big ones or is there something else. What are the rarest cars and parts? thanks in advance

you touched on a few of them. I would also say that the RPM '91 worlds parts are sought after

The elusive Associated World's graphite chassis is up there.

Rare "original" parts... the fiberglass battery strap, the rear spring "cups" and the pale light gold chassis/nose/motor plate. Maybe throw in the single hole shock towers and early clear lexan gear covers.

Aftermarket RC10 parts are a many that have a high degree of collector's value... I couldn't even begin to list things out. We all have different levels of wants and needs for items, too. What I would consider rare and valuable might be junk to someone else, and vice-versa. I have plenty of things here still in the packages that I remember buying or using 20 years ago, that many of you would look at and say, "I've never seen one of those before."

Many times, usually the failure of a product meant scarcity in purchasing when it was new, and in turn makes it harder to find today. There are many items today that are infinitely more valuable and sought-after than they EVER were 20-30 years ago. Lots of things that make me shake my head, but the collector's market today is very different than the racer's market in 1987.

Hell, even the MIP 4wd RC10 kit was an ostrich in the 80s. It wasn't that great of a kit... it was expensive, fragile, hard to build and didn't handle all that well. In the 10 years that I raced off road from 1983 to 1993, I saw ONE on the track. It was eaten alive by Yokomo Dogfighters Kyosho Optimas and didn't stick around very long. But today, a new kit fetches more than $1200 easily. Cool factor today is seriously higher than it was 20-odd years ago. Go figure.

i dunno about the rarest of the rare, but the graphite worlds chassis doesnt come around very often, especially in decent shape.

Yeah how's these for rare, Factory Works 2.25 stealth plastic outdrives! not even the man himself "Daryl Lane" has any. in the past 6 years I have only seen one set on eBay and they were gone.

I don't think there really is one thing. I'm sure everyone has their own one thing that they can't find.

Like in my case, I can't seem to find the e-clip I dropped on the floor last week.

Dude, I've shot those into low earth orbit, yet my wife somehow finds them and I get in trouble for leaving parts around.

I think there is some really rare stuff out there but in some cases, there's no demand or it was just junk anyways. Have you guys ever looked at a tower hobbies catalog from the late 80s or early 90s? There's soooo much stuff in there for the RC10 that it boggles the mind. I've probably only seen 20% of those things on eBay or even here on this board.

I'd say hands down the rarest thing is the Real Racing tuber.. how many of those did they make? like less the 500... thats about the smallest production run in r/c... add in that they were numbered and are now like 15 years old at least. I've seen just about everything else listed (factory work outdrives excluded... those kick ass btw) at least a handful of times a year on ebay and even in consignment areas of hobby shops but only 2 RR tubers EVER on ebay and we all know wht they went for moneywise.

There have been at least 4 tubers on ebay in the past few years, not that rare...oh and the original run was 300.

That's what was stamped on the bottom of Asa's chassis...

I'd find the pics of the 4 tubers which all ended up here or on Tamiyclub but I don't have time. Sorry.
