My First Vintage RC10 !

Hi all, I just wanted to show my newly aquired RC10 that I found laying in a box lot at my wifes family auction house! All I did to it was give it a quick cleaning ! I absolutely cannot believe the condition that it is in, the bottom of the chassis is spotless, and it came with the original msc and battery cups. Since I am a noob at this vintage RC thing can someone tell me a little about this car, like specifically what year? I also plan on getting a body and paint it like the box art.

ohhh............... lucky.
that's your standard short arm, 6 gear rc10. it'd be kinda tough to pin point an exact year, but i'd say from 86-88. do the front tires say team associated on them, or are they blank?
welcome to the board, by the way.

The tires say team associated on them but I do not know if they are original....Also did I mention that i popped a fresh battery in and it ran like the day it was built...couldnt believe it! Also where can I find a set of original rear wheels and tires for this buggy? I think that the previous owner might have used this as a carpet racer judging by the foam tires and the pristine bottom chassis? Any thoughts? cheers

it's possible. it doesn't really seem that the bolinks were used much either, though.

is there a good source for finding repro wheels and tires like the original spiked ones? Or do I need to take my chance with flea bay? Thanks for the comments, I already found the clear body, now all I need is the wing and driver. It came with all that but was horribly painted...looked like finger paint...hehe

The fronts you have are the originals.
As for repros, technically there is no such thing. If you are looking to get brand new originals, be prepared to tbe patient and also fork out a nice chunk of change should you find them on ebay. Trades are always something that can work to both parties advantage should you find the right member whom is willing to part with a set.
You best bet might be to go the aftermarket route. You can usually find older Proline, CRP, etc. wheels/tires somewhat more affordable and get similar results with the original look.
Hope that helps. Happy Hunting.

Back in the day, a friend and I both bought cars at the same time, the only place to run them was a small indoor carpet ovel track. We would put foams on and just have a ball, it was one of the most popular classes back then. We would have little 2" high jumps that we could place anywhere on the track. The car looked brand new for two seasons till we learned of a large dirt track.
I would bet that is where your car was raced.

Thats kinda what i figured. you can tell the car has been run a little bit, but definitely not offroaded since the pan is flawless without the usual gravel dig marks.
