My Yokomo Works '92

Hi everyone,

This is my freshly built Yokomo Works '92 4WD Offroad Buggy. Definately one of my favourite Yokomo's as it was quite advanced for it's time and incorporated a lot of modifications and options that Masami Hirosaka used on his World Chamapionship winning YZ-870C.

Although this car is complex, it went together with little effort and there was no hand fitting or sanding/machining of any parts necessary. Definately an enjoyable build.

I hope you enjoy the pics.

Vin

Beautiful Build, love the yokes too. They are a great 4wd car and a pleasure to drive. Noticed this does lean more towards a '91 especially with the fine pitch belts

Will you be lending your NIP body shell to anyone for replication - nudge, nudge

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Fakiee, I get what you mean regarding "leaning towards a Works '91" because of the fine pitch belts but compared to my NIB Works '91, my version came with upgraded front and rear shock towers, different design (Works '93 onwards) rear hub carriers and both 2.2 and 2.15 (with blue rubber bands) rims. Also came with 2 different sets of tires. Didn't have the upgraded belts though but Yokomo did make 'running' changes to their models.

Damn, yokomo really padded out the spare parts for the Yokes back then - 2 sets of rims and tyres! Cool :D My trouble is that I have been collecting YZ10 cars and parts for ages BUT ive never seen what comes as stock with the '91, '92 '93 revisions (ok the 93 changes are pretty obvious) but until now I didn’t know that the 91 had different hubs compared to the '92, '93 and different towers compared to the '92. Very interesting :)

My Works 91 comes also with blue rubber band, that's a 92 and not a 91 ?

The best rare yokomo that you could find would be the YZ-10 JD Beckwith conversion. We first did the conversion in like 91 and 92. That was the best handling Yok on american tracks. It was a carry over from the Cliff Lett 91 Worlds car. When I was running for Yokomo we were always making new front arms and playing with different chassis.

These threads are bringing back a ton of memories.

Very nice Dog Fighter. Undoubtedly Yokomo always did make some of the very best 4WD off roaders. I am very fond of all the Yoke's.

Ive submitted a request over on TC to become part of that special interest group- just waiting to be allowed in
