is there a way to remove stains from the anodization?

the picture doesn't really show the "stains" that well, but does anybody know of a way to clean the anodized aluminum to get rid of them and have an even color?

Looks like a battery vented on the chassis (pretty common) not anything that can be done for that, it "eats" the crystals off the aluminum similar to oven cleaner.
