Very interesting front mono-shock set up. I noticed that there is no front sway bar, so are the orignial front springs (located in the front bulkhead / chassis) still used to keep everything square?

BTW, if anyone is wondering, the front wheels were used on the Panda Cyclone and possibily the Mugen Manx. They were originally gold.

I'm not sure if the internal springs are still in. I was told by someone that the monoshock is a You-G set up..I added the rear ones as were a freebie.

Where did you find chrome Panda wheels?

I'm glad you guys brought up this subject. highwayracer, you're right about the Panda Cyclone. I think the Mugen Manx had the same style as the standard tamiya grasshopper/hornet/frog but in gold. I bought both recently for the blue aluminum parts (shocks, nerf bars, and stabilizers).

I also have a set of the yellow front wheels. Mine have You-G Products imprinted on the front inner diameter of the rim. The chrome ones that are used on the Cyclone don't have any imprints on them.

My question is, "Are the parts on the Panda/Mugen cars made by You-G or are they a knock off of the You-G products?"

The chrome panda wheels came in a NIB Cyclone kit that I bought about 6 years ago. I sold everything because the only thing I wanted was the independent front suspension. I still have the unpainted/uncut body, decals and bumper...but I doubt I'll ever use it on a hornet.

As for the parts on the Panda Cyclone and Mugen Manx, they were the same ones sold by you-g. These same parts were sold by numerous companies...parma, mugen, panda and trinity. I'm sure they were all made at the same place and rebadged for the customer.

The box art on the panda and mugen show a grasshopper style wheel, but I received the slightly different version. As a matter of fact, all panda kits that I've seen come with the gold wheels (pictured on my previous post).

Here are a couple pictures of my hornet that I about 10 years ago. I regret selling my original car, but I was able to pretty much duplicate it with the exception of the independent rear suspension (I need to make time to do this). I'm so glad that I kept the body that was on my original hornet. This was my second body to paint, and you can see that I used testors paint like many newbies.

btw, the body is a GT-110 ,ade by Fast Lane Exotics. I've only seen that body once since Al Gore invented the internet. This was by far the strongest body that I've owned. It was molded using .03 lexan...and with the curves of the body...bullet proof!!

I have seen a NIB body in my travels, but didn't pick it up. I probably should have.

BTW about the wheels. They are originally made by You-G and underneath all the chroming they are yellow! You-G initially sold yellow ones and the chrome and gold chrome came later.

That's a good-looking hornet right there. First time I see a credible on-road version.
