Hi all,

Seasons greetings, Merry Christmas and all that I have just bought a massive lot of Yokomo Dog Fighter parts. I have been after a Dog Fighter for ages and previously missed out on some amazing deals! I bought the lot mainly for one particular Yokomo RPS SE, and this is what I'd like help on. I have written this thread here to see if anyone out there knows anything about the modifications made to this car.

The car comes with substantial modifications which have been done to a very high standard. I don't know anything about some of these hop-up parts and was wondering if anyone could help me identify them.

My questions are;

Does anyone know anything about these aluminium rear trailing arms? They are absolutely amazing and are machined to an excellent finish, the detail is awesome. If this was a vintage hop-up or machined today it'd be very expensive! The Yokomo was no feather weight before, but now!!
I also got the instructions to the Delta Desert modification kit for the Yokomo and was wondering if anyone has pics of what the parts are meant to look like. Could this be the manufacturer of the rear arms? Oh the alloy arms are mostly likely American in origin as the fasteners are all Imperial thread.

There is also a very fancy ball bearinged black frp cantilevered chain tensioner attached to a black frp spine plate. Does anyone know the manufacturer?

Finally up front there are some nice lower Hot Trick arms, Hot trick front dual shock mount, and rear bulkhead. At the moment as I am one shock short of a dual shock front end, it is using a set of CRP front mono shock mounts instead of the Hot Trick dual shock mount which is also mounted.

The car came with no rear shocks or steering turn-buckles I have added some blue rear Yokomo shocks and also some hop-up captured ball joint turnbuckes.

Anyway, feel free to comment on the car for example the relative merits of the modifications e.g. the massive alloy rear arms.

I am after any information about the manufacturer of the rear arms. Is it Delta? Does anyone on here know anything about the Delta products (US manufacturer)?

I believe Delta was originally located in Iowa and I think that they are still there. If you have a parts bag label, look up the address in google maps and you might find the contact info. I am not aware of Delta making those parts, but I don't know everything there is to know about them. From what I have seen, Tak or kustomizerz on ebay seems to up on top of the Delta hop ups. You could contact him.

You might have a one off there, with custom parts. I do some searching to see if I can find anything else.

As for the Delta Desert kit, I know of one hop up that Delta offered for the rear suspension, however I don't know what or if there was a name associated with it. I can take a pic of the instructions, as I have not yet completed the installation onto one of my cars.

Finally, Losi did offer some hop ups for the SE, such an example (I have limited info) is the saddle pack chassis plate and battery strap. I recently came into a NIP strap and it took me quite some time to figure out what it was. It came with a Losi header tag/card. I don't have the saddle pack chassis and might end up making my own.

Thanks for the info mate that's a great help. I knew there was still a company called Delta still around from a quick web search but I didn't know that they were the same company still. Like how the Checkpoint name for motors still exists but the two companies aren't related.

I might try contacting the two guys you mentioned and seeing whats out there and maybe a quick email to the company wouldn't hurt I guess.

I will try and take a scan of the Delta Desert Modification sheet I have and it'll be easier to talk in reference to it and I'll expain better why I am confused. The modification kit came with rear arms (maybe the ones I have), ball bearinged rear arm mounts (maybe the ones I have), fibreglass arm stiffeners (which I think I have), a rear stabiliser and mounts, rear shocks and an optional chassis kit. But the instructions just have drawings of the parts and they are slightly contradictory.

Of course the car could be a one off like you say. The things is, the rear arms are excellently machined with the ribs and detail being milled down to quite a thin section around 2mm thick. The quality is also very high so someone with a lot of skill made them. Although the only slight problem is that the rear dog bones appear to short now due to the rear arm spacing. I hope this is due to their position on the chassis and can be rectified. I am not that familiar with the car so maybe it'll be ok.

I would be very interested to see these hop-ups you have for your car and would love to buy some or even collaborate with you on a chassis.

Dave and Steve Campbell still own it and they make a 1/8th car based on the Kyosho Evolva.

Looks like that car you have has Delta rear shocks, or at least shock collars. They always made nice cars and parts, but they did do a good amount for the Dog Fighter.

Delta did do quite a few parts. on mine I have their dampers, Rear diff outdrives, front and rear axles and front gear shaft.

Yeah man I love that Yokomo of yours so much and those Delta shocks on all your cars look awesome, oh to find a set. I'd love to get a hop-up chassis and a square Thorp wing too. But the parts I like most are the Custom Works aluminium caster arms and of course the sweet Losi alloys on your car.

I have just realised from your showroom that mine has 3 Race Prep dog bones too. I am just missing one front one

So still no ideas about the manufacturer? I have emailed Delta to ask for clues.

Hey Dr. R,

Absolutely superb parts you have there! Those rear aluminum arms are just completely wicked, and now I will probably not be able to sleep, knowing that you more than likely have a one off set, that were machined for his or herself.

My Doggie has all the Hot Trick parts, and is pretty much completed, with the exception of the body. Man I hate messing with Lexan and paint!

Anyways, there is a special fondness in my heart for these 834b's simply because of the design that absolutely looks like nothing else. You can identify one of these fellows, from 100 yards away!

I hope this cars hasn't lost you to much sleep. I have admired your Hot Trick car on the TC site for a long time and I think I left a comment too. I got offered a brand new in bag complete Yokomo Hot Trick conversion and Yokomo earlier this year but I couldn't afford it because the seller wouldn't split the hop-ups from the car and just wanted to sell in one massive lot. I was gutted 'till I found this beauty

Maybe I will find a hop-up chassis one day to go with this car!

I always remembered the Yoke as being a lot bigger and not having seen one for years I was a bit shocked at the size when it appeared on my doorstep. I guess I must have been a lot smaller when I last saw one in the 80's as a kid. I can't wait to drive it!

Any one seen these blue shocks and aluminum trailing arms before?

about the rear aluminum arms.someone told me are make by Hot Trick.
but not 100% sure.
