It seems the R/C gods have favoured me this past week and I have been fortunate to secure on a few deals which have made all the difference to me.
I have had my heart set on an early Dog Fighter for a while now but wasnt sure the original 870c was quite up to the kind of vintage running I plan to do. When Tom's 91 came up it was like the perfect solution so I jumped on it.
The other part of the equation which needed to be met was to have a buggy with the cool stylings of the Japanese 870c. Lucky for me a Erik here on this forum pointed out to me that 'Kustomizers' had one of these shells nip for sale. It didnt come cheap though,but $100usd + postage + Paypal charges I had this body all wrapped up in another deal. I also managed to buy a set of nip pink 2.2inch 30series rims from him also at a fair price.
I already had some nip TF330 front and TR31 rear Yoke' tyres which look right at home mounted on the pink rims.
I have some plans for both this chassis and the body set. Firstly I will be sending the body down to my good friend Antony in Melbourne who has helped me out reproducing bodies in the past. Not sure how long it might take but he has promised me it will get done.
Secondly I am planning on rebuilding the AE shock set which came with this car from Tom. I have already removed them and have some Losi units in place for now. I also have a nip ballraced alloy steering set to go into the car and possibly a brushless stock set up with digital servo and spektrum receiver unit. For the most part I am very happy with th car Tom sent me and I am looking forward to running it at a track near me soon.
As for the repro 870c bodies, I will keep you guys posted and when they are ready to go I will help you forum members first. Thanks go out to TOM,ERIK and AKU.

No probs MINIMINI. Im sure you will be one of many but I have you down for 1 body. As it stands its looking like i will need to put up the money when they are ready for reproduction. I may get 20 or so made up if possible and i will keep a few for my runner. When the time is ready I ill be posting an announcement here to let everyone know what the costs will be-(hopefully not much!)

of course it will be even better to have the repro undertray & wing too (if possible)........in order to match the overall "vintage feeling".........

Does the angled battery chassis match the new body? If not, we can come to a deal for the older style chassis with parallel sadlle packs.

I sold 2 of those bodies before I got my own YZ-10 bodies and think the wing is the lower part in the rear of the body.
Can you check if that's right Jason?

Nice! Saw this on TC. I like the pink wheels for some odd, strange reason.

Jason, that's an ace find. In my opinion the YZ870C has probably the most iconic bodyshell of the 80's and I love it I've been unsuccessfully looking for a NIB one for years now so put me down for 2 repro's. Will they be thicker lexan than the (rather flimsy) original?

Ian I feel the same way as you do about the 870 styling. The shell is already with my friend Antony in Melbourne. When he gets a chance he will make the buck and he's told me he will outsource the reproductions to a company down there who will do a one of run of these shells. If the numbers are good im sure we can get a price that is fair,much the way Erich has done with the RC10 and JRX2 shells.

Hi Ian,

When I fell lucky to find 2 nib shells last year I found they had different labels: one said 'light'.
It seems the flimsy one is the aftermarket lightweight version.
