Trash pick Tamiya Fox

...I saw the front wheel sticking out of a box curbside while going to visit some friends.

It appears fairly low mileage although absolutely filthy. There were a few stick packs as well as the "landfill charger" and radio.

Hint: Always cut back the shrink on any mystery stick packs, you may find sweet looking shelf quality Sanyo or Panasonic cells, even though they may be junk.

Hopefully I'll get it knocked down this week, I've been without power since Sunday afternoon when "Hurricane Ohio" blew through...

More soon.

Why on God's green earth would someone throw something like that away?

Someone probably didn't , it was most likely someone's significant other doing away with all his valued possesions.

Well, I did my green part by not letting it go to the landfill... 8)

I had a chance to dig into it a bit more today, it really looks like it had a relatively easy life on dirt, the tires are like new. Even the gold plating on the wheels is nearly perfect. :D

I was digging through one of my junk boxes and found the correct uncut wing :!: (I never knew what it was from, but also never cut it up to fit anything else). Found the manual on line, too. Ebay seller jsourbeck had a nib rear shock tower for $5.00

So I've also boosted the economy.

So, who's got a decal sheet for me? Jay?

Sweet find!

The Fox was my first real r/c car bitd, and I used to spank my friend's Grasshopper with it. I almost brought it to the vintage nats, but I was afraid to break something.

Nice find mate! I am always on the look out for something like that.

However living in the ghetto means everything gets cherry picked and then pawned though.

This is how I got my vintage nats truck.
One of the local oval racers works for the county at the public works dept. one of the sanitation guys found a jrx-T in the trash and brought it to the office knowing that my friend is into RC. I happened to see it one day in his garage and asked about it. He had no interest in it so I took it. It had quite a bit of rust, but the mod motor(trinity signature tony nesinger) was in great shape, looked to have never actually been run. The only thing broken was one lower rear shock mount. It was missing the rear body mount and body. The electronics were no good from having gotten wet. This find started my collecting of vintage RC (non-tamiya). I think it was spring '05.
I got the car running and bashed it in the yard a couple times. Then started to accumulate some spares and hop-ups. . .
