Johnson, Lett, Kinwald, Halsey, Masumi, etc...

Are any of them still in the hobby at all?

I was wondering about that the other day to. I know Kinwald and Masimi are still in the sport.

What about JD Beckworth? Pavadis, Velhow?

Kinwald and Masami are still racing at a very high level. Most of the others are at very high management or design positions at some of the largest R/C companies in the world.

Joel Johnson: Kyosho

Jay Halsey: Jammin' Products

Masami Hirosaka: still with Yokomo
Brian Kinwald: XFactory

I don't know of too many of the big dogs from years past that are out of the hobby completely.

Wow, I didn't think that all of these people were still involved. Wish Gil Sr. and Jr. were still with Losi. I love the company now, but in the day when there was no such thing as an RTR - Losi was the best (personal opinion of course, lol).

When I look at that photo, its rather odd, because didn't the three of them DIRECTLY compete with each other, ie; different makes, models, sponsors, etc.... ????

It goes to show that in any racing large or small, racing is about getting the money into the car, and what car, doesn't matter

Drivers just want to drive.

I don't think Vehlow races anymore, someone had his old prototype trx3 on Ebay about 2 years ago. It only went for $150 with enough parts to build 4 cars!

Whatever happened to Tony Neisinger, Chris Doseck, Jack Johnson, Derek Furitani, Mike Lavacot?

Kinwald runs XRay (nitro offroad and electric touring car) and X-Factory (Off Road Electric - 2wd, 4wd, Truck). Two completely different companies, similar names

Who does Kinwald drive for?

Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but he's definitely racing for Chaz at X-Factory.

And Jay, I think Kinwald runs for a couple companies.... he may even be in charge??? I'll try to get some more info for you.
