Never seen this before?! 3 Losi rebuilds at once! JRX-T Fin

Well, like I mentioned before I got a 2 and a T the other day. So now I need to clean them up. I tore the 2 apart and found all the pins and bolts rusted. :( I am going to try and soak them in PB Blaster or WD40 to save them. I also need a lot of parts like the front bulkhead and a-arms.

The T is a little worse off. The usual wear and tear but I really have a feeling that these were in water at some point because of the rust. I hear that these rust naturally but I am convinced as when I tore the diff out of the T there was water in it?!?!? I soaked the diffs in WD40 last night and they are all clean though. Gonna need some new parts as well.

I also decided to tear down my LXT as well to clean it. She has sat on my shelf for about 15 years looking purdy. Shocks still have oil. Hydra-Drive still works great. No rust on this one. I have a second body that I have never ran so I am going to strip it and paint the thing to look like the box art. Ultimately I am going to have a collection of box art rollers for display. Anyone know how to safely strip the old body? I have been told to use Nitro fule but that is pricey. Anything else that is safe and wont haze the lexan?

This is an "in process" thread as the parts are like this. I'll bet you have never seen this before?!?!?

All I can say is that it took about 4 hours to disassemble them all. But you gotta clean em up good.

Stay tuned as I will have one built today. I am thinking the LXT as I know it is complete.

steel wool, fine emory paper, or these buffing wheels from dremel (http://www.dremel.com/en-us/AttachmentsAndAccessories/Pages/CategoryProducts.aspx?catid=42&catname=Finishing+Abrasive+Buffs) will take care of most of your rust.
socket head cap screws are cheap enough that I replace them if they are too bad.
The rest of the metal parts (and even the driveshafts and nylon hardware) I put in a small jar with denatured alcohol, shake it up, and let it sit, shake it some more every once in a while. By the time you are done cleaning all the shocks, plastic parts and are ready to rebuild, the hardware will be degreased and fairly clean. Then hit the rusty spots that remain with one of the above gentle abrasives and you are good to go. I bought a cheap metal strainer from walmart to make part retrieval easy, just pour the jar through the strainer into another. If you let the dirty alcohol sit (in a sealed jar) for a couple days the dirt will settle out and you can reuse the alcohol by pouring most of it out slowly back into the first container.
Keep us posted on the projects.

Well, I got the LXT rebuilt 3 days ago. But I didn't have pics until tonight. I had to throw the original JRXT tires back on the rear, but they are what I ran back then. So here she is. Ball bearing steering and Hydra-drive in all. This truck was awesome in the day.

These bodies were what I had back then. The one was ran, and the other was never ran. I am thinking that I will strip it, but who knows.

Don't know if anyone cares but this has taken a while as I have to source quite a bit of parts. I actually just bought another JRXT roller on the bay. Hopefuly it will be a great parts source. The 2 needed a complete front end - bulkhead, arms, rods, pins, etc...

So, this is going to take a while lol. But I do have a repro body and screwkits coming for both. Also sourced many parts. Just waiting. Tick,.......tock........ lol.

Ok, I am excited so I will post it up. I won this last week: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=150298333033

Yes I paid quite a bit for it, but I just unpacked it and the truck is really nice. Tires are almost brand new. Rims are very nice. Chassis has one little scratch, motor plate has no scratches, front body mount is very nice, etc....

This one is more in tune with my original. It has the servo hole on the chassis and the rear suspension supports with the ribbing on them. The other T I bought last month had to be a first run as it is very different.

Either way, the collection grows. I will post some pics tonight.

No, I had to go let me parents dogs out. Believe me I am not happy. But that leaves me $60 for something else I want. 8)

Now, just gotta get rid of that front bulkhead and clean her up. Other than that, this is a perfect used roller.
