Just wondering? Is it a Classic when they are superseded by a newer model? How old to be a Vintage?
Ive always been under the impression that 1:1 Cars are Antique at 20 years old, and anything else had to be 25? So, how does it play out for RCs?

if you want to be a purist, the word "vintage" derives from the French language and means "twenty years" (âgé de vingt ans), that means any object that is at least 20 years old!

For 1:1 cars, the Antique Automobile Club of America defines an antique car as 25 years old or older. A vintage car is commonly defined as a car built between the start of 1919 and the end of 1930. The Classic Car Club of America defines a CCCA Classic or Full Classic as a fine or distinctive automobile, either American or foreign built, produced between 1925 and 1948. Generally, a Classic was high-priced when new and was built in limited quantities. See, I can cut-n-paste!
Vintage is a loose term for RC-- our club uses 1990 as a cutoff, the Nats used 1994 (so 15 yrs old). I would say that the advances in RC have not been as great from 1990 or so on (i.e. a Yokomo 93 Works is pretty much the same technology as in modern 4wd buggies). Plus the 1990s saw advances in plastics, with more durable components for RC. I personally would like to see production dates established for the categories, rather that just x years old.
Antique: pre-1980
Vintage: 1980-1990
Classic: 1990-1995
