Newbie to vintage RC10s, would like to build a buggy

Hi guys,
I'm new here. Back in the 80s, I was most familiar with Tamiya 1/10 electric RC, but I remember being enamored with the RC10 buggies of that era. It's just I could never afford one as a teen, and just ran my Hornet for a few years. I've recently purchased a couple of Tamiya kits and built them up for nostalgia sake, but now I'm interested in a vintage RC10 from the mid- to late 80s/early 90s.
Well, flash forward to today, and I'm interested in building up a vintage RC10 buggy and running it a bit. I have a wife and kids, so the budget isn't plentiful. I'm wondering how much I should expect to pay for a decent roller off ebay, and how hard is it to get replacement parts? How robust are the vintage runners? What's most prone to breakage? My apologies for my lack of knowledge about the vintage RC10s...
Thanks,
Steve
