G'day guys
I have something to show thats just a little different from the Norm. My father who is a retired toolmaker, hand made & scratch built this 1/10 scale caravan. He scaled it off his 1:1 caravan, right down to the decals on the side. It's completely made of timber, all the furniture inside is hand made, sink beds etc, theres even mirrors on the wardrobe doors. The pop top is fully functional, the annex rools out from the side just like the real thing. The front compartment that u can see houses the switches for the rear tail lights, lights in side the kitchen & down lights in the pop top. It has working suspension from a TT-01 car, jockey wheel & tow hook with safety chains. Even the floor is made out of individual strips of Timber to look more realistic.
U are probably thinking that the vw is out of scale, it does look out of scale but we are vdub nuts so what else would u have towing a caravan!
I've since bought my father a Tamiya porsche Ceyanne 4wd to tow the caravan. I've painted the shell for him but the chassis is yet to be built. I'll have pics soon.
My Parents are away at the moment with the caravan, but when they get back I will post pics so u can see the exact replica.
It's not going to be everyones cup of tea & it's quite quirky, but also quite cool & will remain a family treasure for many years to come I'm sure.
Heres a short vid, enjoy the pics
