Hi there,

Wonder if any one can help, I have just purchased a mint 870c and also got 2 other chassis with it. Looks like another 870/YZ10 carbon chassis and I am not sure what the other is? It seems to be a shorter wheelbase and is all carbon as well.

Any thoughts?

My plan is to make one nice unit.

In the first pic, the top one is a 870c. Middle is a '91 Works YZ10 and the bottom is a YR4 series, but am not sure exactly which. The chassis shape is different that the stock one, so it could be aftermarket.

the middle one is a 91 works........with Corally battery holders installed .........

so I presume that this graphite chassis is made by Corally or DA..........of course ......another possibility will be ......the previous owner did some cut & drill work in the original chassis........

I think the quote is correct fro the YR-4, I had never seen one before.

Regarding the 91 works chassis, it is a dull carbon colour and has a formed ridge/hump running down the centre? So I wonder if it is a Yokomo chassis or not? No doubt the centre hump is for rigidity.

first is 870c, second 91 works but with a carbon weave, have to ask vin about that ,third is a yr4 "special" chassis..you have some nice gear there champ

That is some nice gear you have there. The boys are correct in stating what particular models you have. The YR-4 SP was a fully souped up YR-4 and although it featured a carbon fibre chassis, only 'stick' packs could be used (mandatory in JMRCA sanctioned races).

The Works '91 chassis is definately aftermarket.... not a home made job. A fellow racer had the exact same chassis back in the day. I always liked the design of this chassis with the raised hump you mentioned and the carbon fibre plate over the rear bulkead. I want to agree with Minimini in saying that it is a Corally chassis because of the battery hold-downs but I don't think it is (Corally offered aftermarket chassis' for the YZ10 but they were made from their trademark Coral material). I remember my friend special ordered the chassis from the UK.

Does anybody know what year the YR-4 SP was produced? And is it a collectors item?

Don't sell it, there's so many things you can do with it which will give you more satisfaction than what it will fetch.

For starters: only half of the car is there: no shocks, driveshafts, arms, hexes, carriers,... and it's used, so it's unlikely you get much selling it as is.
If you don't want to invest in it, take it apart and fill your spare parts bin with what is shared with the buggies. Check the state of the carbon parts and sell what's good, use the rest for cutting up some custom parts.

If you want an off-road runner with stickpack, I'd be glad to share how I turned my standard YR-4 into a buggy with off-the-shelf contemporary parts, including the body (if only I could get abeeter underbody...)

For onroad also, it's still a fun car for spec racing and again you can use lot's of off-the shelf, or get new from a broken up kit from me.

I love the fact my buggy and touring car share the same spare part bin; makes life much easier;)

I agree with Erik regarding the yr4. You can easily turn it into a hotdog or break it up for spare parts. As it sits, you'll probably get $35 for the entire car. I bought an almost complete car (minus the shocks and wheels) for $20.

Are there any pics on the forum of an actual HotDog. I can't seem to find one.
