Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
Hey Mikedealer VERY nice work.
I also think the HPI 5 Stars are one of the nicest wheels made to this day. Except for aluminium wheel which are in a different league.
I just saw that you're from Long Island. I used to live in Miller Place as a kid bfore we moved to Germany.

ah very nice, i live in hicksville in nassau county here.
i love these 5 star rims too, i never understood why they stopped making them, they would be a huge hit for things like the b4 or t4 or losi's or yokomo's etc. they are great wheels and just glad they would fit on the old ultima, the wheel options are limited for the ultima as is.

Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
I have a set of those (chrome) going on my Project CYANide Turbo Optima (front & rear), to be used with on-road tires. They look fantastic and at least in the 4WD's case, no mods were necessary.

Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid

Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
I thought it was a general wheel with 3 adapters included for several cars: ultima JRX2 and RC10 , maybe others too.
Tower hobbies stil sells the adapters.

Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
I do see where Tower sells the adapter for these. I have questions about the fronts:
So, you can buy these (adapters for the front):
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXN055&P=V
Do you also need these (washers)?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXN060&P=M
Thus, these will work on the front of an Ultima with the items above?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXSA1&P=7
Or do you still need to cut them like MikeDealer showed?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
The adapter set is for front wheels: with round areas to put bearings in.
The wheels in your link are rear wheels: with a 12mm hexagonal space to seat the drive => these parts are not compatible at all

Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
If you like the white 5 star wheels you have listed, you could use them on the rear with adapters
if you used the hub, bearings, and axle that are shown in the original thread post you can use these 4wd front wheels here:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXSA0&P=M
they don't have as much positive offset as the cut down HPI wheels would have. you would have to make sure it doesn't narrow up the car too much.
jcracing on ebay also sells 5 spoke wheels that are very similar that you could probably retrofit to a kyosho with adapters(made for traxxas, rc10, a bunch of others....)

Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
if you use a 12mm hex conversion upfront this 5-spoke combo works perfect without any wheel trimming:

Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
Mr. Ed is correct, I put the picture of rears.
Here's my question:
If I want to put these on the front:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXSA0&P=7
I want these specifically to match the rears.
What else do I need?
It is a Pro XL and I have Andy's arms I will put on it.
As always, thanks for all the great help!
