Hi everybody!
I am new of the forum, and here I have seen a lot of wonderful cars, restored as pieces of art.
So why not to add my own vintage Kyoshos?
Loooong time ago I used to race my Kyosho Mid Custom Special, so I had a lot of spares and hopups, then at the end of that period I decided to install all of the new and option parts in order to build my shelf queen.
I purchased a kamtec body (very nice repro) in place of the original aero-boring one, added custom made carbon upper plate, front shock plate and wing support and this is the result!
The only non vintage parts are the current Lazer wheels with 2.2 tires (custom hex built to gain a few millimeters offset)






Then I found that a lot of parts were still there, and the temptation came to look for what was missing to build a second car!!
This time I wanted to do something a bit different, so i fitted Asso T3 arms, custom built (not very nice, I know) axles, Lunsford turnbackles, custom aluminum hubs, custom carbon parts, HPI wheels and an Academy truck body.
The result is as follows:






I am very proud about my builds, what do you think? ?

That wing mount on the buggy looks super!
The race truck transformation is just my cup of tea and the execution looks excellent to me.
I bet building the custom axles was a real pain.
I know they're shelf queens, but I like my queens scarred and ready for battle with some mud still on the soles... so I got to ask, have you ran it?

Both look great! That Kamtec repo looks absolutely perfect, I wonder if it would fit my Lazer.....?

Have you considered Jay's repro's of the proline body for the yok 870C?
I'm gonna try that body and tray on my MX-4; the only thing which worries me is the chassis fit in the tray...

I hadn't thought of that, are the chassis lengths/profiles similar? Might need to take a closer look....Thanks Erik!

They look great! I love the truck, I have always wanted to do that to my XX4. They make everything 4wd but tenth scale electric trucks. and of course thats what I like. Great build

I just saw your post in the 870C repro threat. The proline body he does may be a better fit though: gives a bit more coverage in the front and rear. The 870C japanese body is rather short as it origins from the 834C.
I'm hoping to see asso-man next weekend and get Jay's repro's from him. can't wait as I don't like the looks of the MX-4 too much

I did run the truck, and it was really fun! Super stable because extra large (more than conventional 2wd trucks), with lots of suspension travel to absorb jumps!
It was also nimble thanks to lots of steering!
Unfortunately the old materials are not really strong, and I found a weak point in the front bulkhead where the inner arms pins are hinged.
After a couple of failures I started worrying about replacements availability, then I decided to stop track activities..
About the axles: they have been built cutting the original ones and soldering a tubular sleeve to increase the overall length.
They resulted almost axisimmetric and indeed effective.. but I would have preferred something nicer.
About the wing stay.. yes it's nice, and really simple to build.. but for racing something softer works better, I installed the carbon piece just for the shelf..
