Im thinking bout putting a VW boddy on my buggy but where do I find them and how do they mount? Do you have to change the body mounts?

I think there have been several threads about the conversion and mrlexan was selling a great VW body and he may have more if not pm me and I can help.

the only buggy that i know of that is a direct fit (wheelbase) to the rc10 is the old proline vw, which was discontinued many years ago. any of the others, be it one of jay's repros, or the parma vw body, the chassis will need to be shortened around 3/4" for it to look right.

kamtec makes some nice looking bug bodies

The threads I mentioned included details on shortening the wheelbase, and it wasn't to complicated, however these maybe excellent options.

You also could use the hpi body which I have here on this tomahawk without needing to shorten your rc10 wheel base is pretty much the same as the tomahawk

the parma Body has been discontinued also so if you want one you better get it. theirs a few on E-Bay. VW is not renewing Lic. so no one can make them anymore. Sucks

Shorten it meaning cut or moving the nose back. If I have to drill and cut I don't want to. This Idea came to me for the powdercoated chasis I have.

RC Chick, I've got a minty black tub and nose shortened 1" for a baja bug conversion, as well as a Tamiya Blitzer Beetle hard shell if your interested. The left over parts from this car that I took apart to build a truck out of:

Proline finally has V Dubb's blessing to start producing Baja bugs, and they're making up for the drought. At last count, they have 4 different models within the last month or so.

There are 2 different Revo sized bodies w/fantastic detail. A long chassis and short chassis version. I checked out one yesterday, it looks like the "short" version will fit my GT perfectly. They're larger than the Tamiya clones, (closer to 1/8th scale) but wow...they're nice.

Proline also just released a 3/4 Beetle (full front fenders) body for the rock crawler crowd. One for the Axial types & one for the Losi Mini Crawler. Both would make interesting alternatives to the normal Sand Scorcher, but are smaller in scale.

The Kamtec worked out perfect on my T3 chassied B2, (RC10 B2.0 Baja project post) I think the wheelbase looks a little better long for the desert style I was going for. The body detail needed a little creative help.

Still, nothing tops Tamiya in the detail department.

If you plan on using a B2, B3, or T3, for you Baja, the stock T3 truck mounts are the way to go. The rears are stock older 10T mounts that just happen to bolt up perfectly between the rear shock strut supports.

As far as a tub chassied RC10, the best mounts I've ever seen were from JG. You may be able to find them on E-Bay.

Another alternative would be buying a sheet of Kydex and making you own. The JG stuff used to form pretty well with a little heat applied.

Do you think the long revo chassis body would fit a standard RC-10 gold pan?

I think it may come up way too long on a standard unmodified RC10. You'll have a lot of overhang in the front, and the front tires will hit the back of the front fenders. The long version was too much for my GT. (which is way longer than the old school tub RC10)
I'm going with the short version for it...Id bet it would be just right for a 10T also.
The width is right on for a 10th scale Baja.
Proline's website has the specs on all 4, you may want to measure the wheelbase and check out which is best for your project.

I think the cleanest way to mount on a goldtub would be to velcro them to the side of the tub? Should be about correct for the width. (Assuming you drop it low enough to cover the tub sides that is)

PS: for a runner it sure is better to use at least one body post in the front and rear in addition to the velcro: to keep the body from swinging over to one side in corners
