MIP RC10 Goodness

Since I opened my yap asking/hoping to see more custom builds, I figured I'd lead by example and post up something in progress.

Here's my in progress-forever MIP chain drive conversion. It just takes forever to find all the parts to make a complete kit. The chassis and such are not perfect as I used some rough parts to do a mock-up. Plus, I don't have a perfect chassis or noseplate! On top of the chain drive conversion, I've added MIP's trailing arms, shock bodies, rear axles and slipper clutch. I have a template for the correct rear shock tower, just need to cut one out. More to do ... chain's too tight, steering needs to be completed ... you get the idea!

So where's the custom part ... well, I'm not totally sure myself! I am considering a vintage rally car. The body is a Parma I think (sticker kinda gives that away!). If it looks like it was painted by a 12yr old, it was! Apparently my sense of color matching wasn't too good back then. It was painted by hand (and not very well) but ... I see that some of the blue is flaking so I may be able to strip it and repaint!

Something tells me the chain is routed wrong. Shouldn't the top run be straight?

That looks great and is just dripping with MIP. I like the rally thing too - the body looks like it belongs on there.

I believe the top chain should go over the top guide bearing and the lower over the bottom.

caught me! Now the chain tension is correct! Plus there's room to fit the early MIP steering setup.

What style/brand tires would look good? I think ProLine Waffles at all 4 corners would be cool, but I don't know if they were available in early RC10 sizes. What else?

Yes, the body is Parma. I have a new one. I can get you the PN if you want.

Yes, they will. The Tamiya sized waffles will fit the white rear jelly bean wheels.

hmmm, either of those tires sound good. Kinda looking for a all terrain design for light duty use.

WOW!!! Delta S4..... ain't seen that before...... have to find one to add to my Group B rally shell collection...... I'm thinking needle in a pile of needles type rarity, but at least now I know it exists (groan!), and have a part number (cheers mrlexan!).
