Hi, new member on forum.I wonder if anyone has converted a street weapon to off road and what parts did you use. Have been mildly interested in rc cars for about 20 years but now Iv'e reached 60 I have a bit more time on my hands. Any help will be gratefully received. Regards Bluesman.

losi used to have the rally weapon kit........

and i believe they sold a conversion kit for the street weapon to build it too. i honestly don't know how close the xx4 is the S.W. to make it an offroad buggy. but, it'd probably be cheaper in the long run to just buy one out right.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I believe the rally weapon was more of a rally car than a 4x4, but I suppose that it is possible with the shock towers, longer shocks and drive shafts it could work.

the rally weapon, street weapon, and the xx4 are based on each other, the xx4 has a longer chassis than the other two cars. It would be cheaper to buy a used xx4 buggy than it would be to convert the street weapon.

My all plastic XX4 began life as a street weapon. For the conversion, off the top of my head:
  • Longer Chassis
    Longer Chassis cover set
    Front Arms
    Front Tower
    Front Shocks
    Front U-Joints
    Front bumper
Slipper Shaft & Slipper Hardware (Spur gear also)
    Rear Arms
    Rear U-joints
    Rear Tower
    Rear Shocks
    Rear Belt
all Tie Rods & Steering Rods
    Wing mounts
    Body & Wing

Thanks, does seem like a lot of work, might be easier to negotiate a swap.

basically you keep the diffs, steering components, some drive hardware and front diff cover/bulkhead

it is worth picking up a used one from ebay to "convert"...I had tons of parts left over from my X5 build that I wasnt using, so I went to town...and it wasnt the cheap route...
