I never get tired of looking at pictures of RC10s - especially a NIB build. Thanks for sharing - keep 'em coming!

Props to you for doing what you want with your car mate.

You bought it for you - and obviously to enjoy - not as an investment.

There really is something special about building any car from a kit - even more so a vintage one.

Seeing as you had 2 of them - I say more power to ya mate!

Cheers

Yes, you must do what you want and since you had two sealed kits
But, being the crazy collector that I am I have to agree with Shodog. It is very hard to find a sealed kit (at least for me) and / but, I also agree with most of you that a sealed kit is not a lot of fun to play with. I still believe that we must preserve some of these NIB things............................

I have been lucky to find cars that were never run or quite finished. As I am sure most of you know it is a lot of fun and hard work trying to bring them to proper "Instruction Build" spec. Most of the cars I find that were never run seemed to be built by some "Special Ed's" Yeah! Guess that's why they were never finished.

Here is a very late CE that was never run but it was built like crap - check out the front and rear camber and the rear arms installed upside down
So this one received a 100% tear down, some new parts and a lot of cleaning. It was the first full build of a gold pan since the summer of 1985 for me - every piece of the car was taken apart and re-assembled just like building a NIP kit - but I had to un-build it first!

Looks fantastic.

Dont get me wrong on the NIB thing - beleive me - I have a healthy respect for NIB kits - I have a few of them myself. I am all for preserving history.....however I also beleive that you should do what makes you happy! :)

Cheers

+1 on that note. I would much rather look at a freshly built RC10 (built properly, that is) than a box. Irregardless of market value.

Very true!
Kind of like the old plastic kit collectors, you collected shrink wrapped boxes.
But I would still personally struggle to open a sealed kit (because I am a collector and collectors "me" are crazy)

The seal has been broken on this kit for at least 8 years since I got it, so that might make it a bit easier.

Currently waiting on a specific servo arm before continuing.

You should put in a 3.5 brushless and let a 8 year old kid run it in a gravel pit! It would be like when rappers pour out full bottles of bubbly on the ground in da club.

To each their own. It's great you did something that brought you happiness. For me, I get a similar satisfaction of seeing all the parts pristine in the bags just the same way as holding a newbuilt in my hand.
