I have picked up a couple of old 6 gear cars in the last couple of weeks. Both have the stock motor but one has gold plates on the endbell and has Yokomo on it and the other has no plates and no markings on it. Anyone no witch one came out first and when they switched ? Just trying to date the cars.

I have the same ones too and my guess non gold plates came first.Plated help brushes run cooler and less heat to the comm.Hotter brushes stay they become brittle and desinegrate, crumbe and eat the comm up.Best old school motors were the aluminum endbell ones, stayed the coolest and were nice bling dling motors.Don

The unmarked motor is the earlier (Yokomo) motor, it was used through early Cadillac production (the motor label should have the address on it). The motor with the brush hood heatsinks appeared later, approximately 1989, and was based on the Yokomo Esprit series.
