Question Regarding a "Real" Edinger RC10

I bought this car last year and it is pretty clean and seems to be un-molested. One of the first things I noticed was it had (I thought) the wrong screw holding the fiberglass battery strap to the cup. I put the car away un-touched and went to work on some other builds.
Since then I have been planning to build a reproduction of an original box art prototype. While researching and gathering parts I noticed that the prototype has what looks to be the same phillips head silver screw. Anybody run into this before and do you think it is possible that these screws came originally with the kit?

Hey Brian, all I can say is judging from the side pics on my Edinger box it does show a silver phillips head screw holding down one side of the battery straps. So I'd say leave it if you're building a "true" box art buggy.
