RC10 vintage buggy chassis to modern Truck conversion

hey guys and gals,

I have never had a Associated truck before, but have been aimlessly going through the truck forum for some research. This might be a simple question that probably has been answered already, but has anyone converted a vintage buggy chassis and added modern truck parts to it, aka T4 CVDs :?:

my idea is to use T4 wheels with possibly 10T or T2 arms and i'm not sure if this will work.

If you look around, several of us have adapted B4 parts to work with RC10 buggies. I think the biggest things are hubs and CVDs. The wheels, as long as they are 3/16 will work, however, like the B4, the offset is different so thats where the Hubs and CVDs will play into it.

You can still find GT/T2 arms by RPM.

Thanks, I guess I just got to do some searching, any threads you or anyone else suggest?

Like you said, the hubs and CVDs are the variable factors, I too have built a B4 conversion, which is turning out really nice (the Custom RC10 thread in the Vintage RC10 Buggy forum). I wanted to step it up and build my first T4 conversion. I think I am enjoying building these hybrids more than buying new kits.

I'm running my T2 with some T4 parts. the wheels are proline velocity for T2/T3. is it same one for T4 :?:
but, I cannot remember where I took the bones from. anyway, the bones are slightly longer than stock T2's.
and, this T2 has same treads with T4.

and, 1/4" axles + 1/4"x3/8" bearings + T4 rear hubs work fine with RC10T wheels
thanks for the rear wheels to a01butal

That looks good, I like it. Do you think 10T arms attached to a graphite chassis with a stealth tranny will work with the T4 hub/CVDs/wheel combo? I don't know if the distance between the tranny and the hubs are the same with your T2 as it would be with the setup I'm thinking of using.

Here is some info that might be of some help. I was looking for a CVD for a custom project, that originally had AYK radiant 'bones, which I'd rather not run anymore. So browsing through tower, here is list of CVD bones that are of various lengths. I don't know for sure if the traxxas bones will fit in the associated drive cups, but it's worth taking a look at. I'm guessing that no matter what, the CVD side should fit on any CVD axle.

RC10t: 87mm
RC10B2: 59.6mm
RC10GT2: 88mm
Stampede: 90.7mm
Rustler: 81.7mm
RC10B4: 69/70mm, seen it both numbers

This will help for sure, I will make sure I measure twice and buy once. This one is going to be a slow build for me anyway. I got to commit to finishing my current build before moving on...well at lest I'm trying, ebay can be pretty addicting especially if you see some cool things ending.

I ended up finding the right combo for me...it's kind of a hines 57 too with t2 CVDs joined to modern quick connects on a TQ graphite chassis  I had to modify the front end a lot with a rotary tool to fit a 10T front end on, and then a A&L tall shock tower so I could convert it back into a buggy again    . Think of it as a 1/8 scale RC10.

Here is a link to the build http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=10162

And here is a quick pic to hook you.

I ended up using the Rc10T CVD bones and the new quick connects for the T4. Works absolutely awesome!!!
