Protech Body Cut Lines

My Protech body arrived today.
I cut along the trim lines, but it don't wanna fit my RC10...Especially at the front-it's miles away from meeting the front body post.
Can someone post a photo of a trimmed Protech so I can get an idea of what I have to trim off?
Here's the problem...

You will need to trim quite a bit more to get it to sit down lower. Have a look throught the RC10 section or google some images to see what I mean. Just trim it a little at a time until it sits where you want it. It seems like every one I do is a bit different. BTW - I would not trim any more until you get the rear shock tower, shocks and rear body mount installed to give you a better idea where to trim. That's my opinion, others may differ.

This is a protech 2 body, but the same cutting would apply. I am no expert, but I just did this last week. Hope it helps

Project coming in the next few days is definitely clean up the car. I have a handful of parts still coming and will be updating as things change.
I'd like to get some new turnbuckles, but will be looking into that and some other odds and ends.
That's it for now and you are all caught up! I have been wanting to get on this site with all the info that pertains to the RC10. So Hello again and happy to be here!

Thanks so much for that-I'll definitely wait 'till my new rear bulkhead is on,along with the rear shocks and tranny, before I cut any more off.
I love this site! Thanks guys!

I said what the hell and cleaned, then reinstalled my not-so-perfect rear bulkhead, just 'till my mint new one arrives,so I could at least get the car together.
The Protech body is now fitting real sweet, man I had to trim a lot of lexan to get it fittin' right!
Got me NIP vintage Tekin receiver installed and a steering servo, too.
I won some NIP OE ball cups and a super nice set of turnbuckles...Make a change from using RPM ball cups everywhere!
Period Reedy motor and Tekin ESC comin' right up...I'm sick of seeing Novak electronics in every RC10 I see,so I'm going the Tekin route, just for something different.

You might have to do some more cutting when you've got the nose tubes installed

I checked it with some spare RC10T2 tubes I have and it's cool.
It could sit lower and I probably will trim it some more.

A couple of things I noticed are listed below. Also, everyone trims bodies differently so this isn't a bible on how to trim the body.
1 - If you carry the cut downwards from the back of the front shock tower notch, you'll have to remove more material on the sides to allow for the steering components to work properly.
2 - The rear needs a couple of small notches so that the upper suspension link can move through its whole range of motion
3 - You'll have to trim the nose pretty close to flat so that the nose tubes don't push the body up too far in front.

Im wondering if someone posted and deleted their post after realizing they revived a 5 year old thread.
if adding to richie's post. #3 proves true for the viper body too. I had to remove a lot more material on the front for the nose tubes and bellcranks to clear.
I also cut back the area around my shocks to where they dont hang out and are flush with the body line when look from top down.

Ha! I saw that too. I figured I'd add my 2 cents in since people are probably still trimming the ol' Protech more often now than in 2009.
