I have been working the past couple of weeks off and on cleaning up and repairing an RC10 that my brother-in-law had originally gotten in the mid 80's. It was in pieces in boxes in his attic, but luckily most all the parts were there. I ordered a new body for it and had to get the front battery holder piece (unfortunately it's black and not white). It has the original wheels and tires and also some conversion truck width wheels front and back. He had drilled a couple holes in the chassis to mount tall body posts for putting a truck body on it. The worst part is it has been in a smokers house for about the last 15 years and the white parts have yellowed and smell like cigarettes Yuck. What's the best way to bring them back to white?

I am going to do the ball bearing steering upgrade that is posted here on this car since the original steering pieces are cracked where the balls were screwed into them.

I will post pictures this weekend of the RC-10.

Is there anywhere to purchase reproduction tires for the orig wheels?

Also, I have been into RC cars since getting my first Grasshopper in the 80's. Have owned and sold about 15 cars since then (raced losi xx's and xx-t's too). I currently own a losi mini baja, losi 1/10 desert truck, Slash, Axial AX-10 crawler, Wheely King, and a scale 2.2 early Bronco that I built entirely (see below), and working on building a 1.9 scale 4 door Jeep JK.

After working on this RC-10 I want to get one for myself and restore\upgrade it. Is ebay the best place to locate one?

Can't wait to get one of my own to work on... I told my wife last night "Your brother may not be getting this car back". Other than the couple of additional holes in the chassis his is in really good shape.

Soak and thourohly scrub the white parts in Simple Green, they'll smell good and look as white anything else will make them.

What's the K for in KVille, Kernersville?

Yes this is what i did and it werks awesome. Straight simple green does the trick with a toothbrush then soak'em.

Thanks for the tip, I use simple green to clean all of my crawlers tires (it gets em sticky again)...

I just got back from my LHS getting some screws and nuts for the RC10. They were out of stock of the alum 8-32 countersunk screws, but one of the guys dug through his junk drawer and gave me 6 that he found for no charge. That's why I like supporting the LHS'. They are in need during this econimic crissis but like today they will reward you for your patronage. They usually knock off $10 - $20 on larger purchases I make with them too.

How do I know Kernersvile, my daughter lived in Stokesdale the last 4 years but just moved to Kansas City, Mo. Use to drive over to Kville all the time to eat and sometimes visit Harvick's shop. Nice town always liked the layout, thought I'd found all the hobby shops around and they certainly didn't have old stuff, was there one in Kville?

Partially through. Gotta install the electrics out of a wheely king in it. Waiting for the body, and battery hold down piece.
