Re: MJX Hyper Go 14301 ESC power issue

Since nobody seems to know what's happening here, I did more research and will update this topic in case other people encounter similar issues. Apparently, the latest LiIon batteries are 7.4V, not 7.2V. The manufacturers state to charge them with the LiPo setting on your charger, *not* the LiIon set...

Re: Spray Paint types for Lexan

I'm not sure how well automotive paint will bond to Lexan. For one thing, it's meant to bond to properly-roughed-up primer on a hard surface, and you can't be priming the inside of a Lexan body shell or that's all you'll see, glossy battleship grey. It's also not meant to be flexible so auto paint o...

Re: MJX Hyper Go 14301 ESC power issue

Looking into this a bit more, I learned that 2S LiIon batteries charge up to 8.2V instead of 8.4V for LiPo's. Since both full charge voltages are well above the voltage cutoff for an ESC, I'd assume both types of batteries should still work in this car, but I'm still confused as to why only the 8.4V...

HyperGo 14301 ESC & 7.2V vs 7.4V LiIon battery issue

Hi Everyone, I don't know if many of you have experience with these Hyper Go 14301 RC trucks, but I have a problem with one, maybe someone has some insight. I encountered a strange issue with my 14301's ESC. With the included 2000 mAh LiIon battery, as well as two 2600 mAh LiIon batteries I bought a...

Re: Amusing Engrish typos on Asian R/C parts

This isn't RC related, but I sometimes get a laugh out of unintentionally-funny Chinese knockoff vendors on Amazon. Years ago, I was looking to buy a throne seat for my main drum kit, and this brand popped up in my search, Ichiias . I see they no longer sell the drum throne but they still make chair...

Re: Tamiya Polycarbonate Metallic Paint - Backing colors

Gotcha, you're talking metallic vs non-metallic. It would be interesting to know how backing a non-metallic color with a metallic silver turns out. Non-metallics will likely let almost no metallic backing coat show through. They're more solid colors. Metallics have particles that have to orient a c...

Re: Brush Painting Aluminum/Chrome Details inside Lexan - First Attempt

SpazStix Mirror Chrome is supposed to be the best Lexan paint for realistic chrome finishes. Can you still buy it? I have a few cans of it awaiting future projects.

Very cool build. Years ago, I got lucky and scored a Lucas Agitator Pro-10 on eBay, it's a really cool chassis for sure.

Re: Hornet - is there such thing as too much chrome?

As others pointed out already...polished aluminum. But nothing says "class" like adding a bunch of aluminum-nums to your car. Chrome-plated plastic just has a cheapness to it.

Now you'll need to update your avatar picture!

Re: Traxxas Sprint Car

Nobody has yet mentioned how weird those look without a driver doll. Of all the car models that would seem to require one...it's THIS. :? I'm not sure what looks dumber actually driving around...a modern cab-forward body that looks nothing like a real car, or an open cockpit vintage car model sans d...

Re: "Modern" Brushless Motor with Vintage 1/12

I did something very similar with my RC12L3 Buick Grand National car: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=35541 https://www.rc10talk.com/download/file.php?id=98425&mode=view I chose a Trinity RevTech 17.5T motor and a 1S LiPo, which means it needed a special 1-cell ESC (Turnigy Tra...

Nice modelling. But with the way that Hyundai video was edited, this doesn't look like much more than a toy-grade RC. Keep expectations low.

Re: Best chemicals / methods for stripping paint from old bodies.

I think the important detail most often left out of this conversation on "Which chemicals to strip paint from Lexan bodies" is "What kind of paint are you trying to remove?" People mention this or that method but not all paints are the same. Pactra paints (and others meant to bon...
