Old chargers and mAh ratings?

Dug out the battery stuff I got with one of my cougars. Basically an unmarked black stickpack, a 1500mAh saddlepack and a kyosho quick charger. Memory tells me there are more NiCd cells somewhere... The charger does puzzle me a bit. the front plate says "AC 7.2V - 1200mAh Quick Charger" an...

anyone know the history of chassis materials?

Was just thinking. Back in the day, schumacher started out with fibreglass chassis, right? I'm thinking of the C-Car, the CAT and so on. And then comes the topcat with an alloy tub, which is kept until the cougar 2000 arrives with a carbon fibre chassis. Time goes by and suddenly there's a milled al...

Re: Anyone tried slotting their control arms?

An interesting idea, and a commendable thought for possibly recycling previously throwaway items.... but I honestly think that the responses here are about right.... once you cut into the strength point of the arm, you're going to lose the strength that was there, and you're going to have arms popp...

Re: Anyone tried slotting their control arms?

anyway, just wondering if anyone has tried this before and if it works the way it's meant to (that is, it works fine under normal circumstances and in a crash the arm comes off without any actual damage)? If you crash, do you want the entire arm to tear off, or do you want it to make it through to ...

Anyone tried slotting their control arms?

Not being able to find spares suck. Maybe not a problem in the world of associated, kyosho and tamiya, I don't know, but definitely a problem if you have a schumacher cougar (or topcat or cougar 2). Anyway, I was reminded of how after my first ever accident with my first car the control arm would ea...

Re: storing cars?

I need to be able to move it around the house. Wouldn't mind if I could manage lifting it into the back of my volvo wagon, but that's not a priority

No need to display the cars when in this storage unit :-)

storing cars?

need to find a good, preferrably DIY, storage option for 2 buggies with a bunch of wheels, a couple extra bodies, some random spares and a couple of transmitters. Ideally the top should open into a usable surface for tinkering. Any suggestions? Googling didn't provide me with any good ideas (other t...

assuming one could get hold of the rest of the parts needed, where does one find touring-car bodies that fit?

Re: My cougar club10 nostalgia

So... I got myself a second car: _MG_9421-kopia.jpg The chassis on this one seems somewhat less abused (doesn't look twisted, we will see) though it has a couple extra holes. And it looks like someone lost a screw and figured he could put just any old screw in there. and the front tower isn't assemb...

Looking forward to reading about it. Will we get a technical analysis as well to show us why one car would perform better?

Re: What do you consider to be 'vintage' ???

To me, the "vintage" term would include alloy tub chassis schumachers at the very least. I'd even consider the cougar 2k vintage. Basically, the cars I wanted as a kid are vintage now. From a race perspective, sooner or later, what is made today will be considered vintage. You could try to...

schumacher spares - confusing?

Looking at the spare parts listing at racing-cars.com I'm a bit confused. There are several items which seem to be compatible with the cougar/cougar2 but which aren't listed for these and I'm sure the situation is similar for other cars. As an example, look at the U2330. looks very much like the C-y...

Re: Cougar - digital PKE version (yes, this is a bit nerdy)

was just reminded of how bent and twisted my chassis is. not fun. I need to come up with a replacement but not sure what to do since my car is the only vintage cougar I've seen for sale in sweden for a very long time. I could design a chassis based on a flat sheet of aluminium (could have a local co...
