Re: Painting associated shocks ?

Painting is the poor man cutting corners method. Either purchase new shock bodies or have them re-anodized by Bateman's.

Re: Painting associated shocks ?

I believe you would need to remove the anodizing and clean them up prior to sending them off. Here's an example of his work.

You're missing an 8-32 screw in your tranny.

Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

The CC RPM Worlds was based on the '91 Worlds Stealth buggy that AE developed for the loamy Freedom Hill Park track in Detroit that was hosting the 1991 IFMAR Off-Road Worlds. RPM developed the '91 Worlds front end kit for AE team drivers that weren't running a Stealth buggy. It took roughly 18 mont...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

Well, it's tranny Tuesday. :D I have the parts sorted and will start opening everything up if my ocd can lay low for a while. I won't be using the Thorp Stealth slipper top shaft, but I will set it to the side in case I ever decide to swap out the Hydra. It appears that particular 3101 Hydra kit is ...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

Today was shock tower day. Opening the bags was somewhat stressful since I had never seen the rear tower in the wild. I drilled two upper holes for the rear tower to mount properly to the RPM rear bulkhead. The front bolted up as expected. I'll most likely use 3/4 shcs for the upper & lower shoc...

Re: Team Associated Japan RC10GX (unboxing) early six gear tranny

How about it’s only a box of spares if it ain’t built. Only reason I buy anything nib is to build it myself otherwise what’s the point That's the great thing about this hobby. Some collect sealed kits, some have open box but unbuilt, some build them, some flip them. I suppose the point is whatever ...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

I decided to do a couple of things this morning. RPM 7089 translucent center link, 7338 translucent white rod ends, and vintage (not the newer retro) 1990 Lunsford Ti turnbuckles. I was careful not to mar the rod ends. Lengths were measured using my Ultra mold buggy. CC-RPM-Worlds7 (Large).jpg CC-RP...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

I decided to build the tranny today. Lots of bags were opened up. Low and behold I didn't have the Hydra thrust bearing bag in the pile. Fortunately I had a few spares in my hydra stash bag. Everything went together nicely, and I only had to fight with one of the threaded inserts to allow the 2-56 s...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

8) Fantastic, love me some CC Worlds builds. Keep it coming :D It's coming along nicely. I am fixing to start on the shocks. I've been going back and forth on which parts to use. I'll probably post a shock parts pile by this weekend. That car looks great with many high-end race parts. I can’t wait ...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

Initially I had 4 aluminum crews for the Stealth, but it turned out a few had some heads that must have been abused. I used 4 steel ones because I forgot that I had ordered a bag of Tecnacraft aluminum 4-40x1" screws off eBay last week. I then realized that I forgot to cut the motor plate, so I...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

CVD's have been assembled. These are the early version with smooth round bell bottom. I was going to use Shiny bones, but since they list B3 (1997) I feel they are too new for my build. MIP 1007 CVD Kit (Large).jpg CC-RPM-Worlds14 (Large).jpg Shock parts have been gathered. These are bottom load bod...

Re: Composite Craft RPM '91 Worlds build thread

Yes, the Mip bottom loaders became available in or around Aug. 1990 according to the old RCCA ad I posted earlier. This date would be right around the time AE Team hard ano shocks hit the market. I opted to use them since you don't really see them that often, and I have several Mip goodies on my bui...

Re: Red Line Modifieds?

I found a few of their ads in RCCA from 1989/90. I have a '93 Redline 14 Quad based on a Trinity Championship tear down that is allocated for a build I am working on. I've always liked the purple cans for some reason. Redline_14Quad_TrinityCE1993.jpeg Redline_modifieds_RCCA-12-1989.JPG Redline_modif...
