Oldskool trick of avoiding paintbleed under tape is to seal the edge with clear before shooting colour.

You've likely blown 1 or 2 of the 6 drive channels. Does it still work in Brushed configuration? Be careful about using it though... sometimes the blown FET is stuck 'on' and conducts, which heats up the heatsink even if ESC seems to work ok. No idea if anybody fixes them anymore.
