Getting back in... rear hub carriers / CVDs
Hey everyone. Just another "dug out my car for the first time since I was 15" guy here, getting back into things. It's an RC10T. First off, thanks for all the great info here. I've been digging for days getting myself back up to speed. I think I've been able to figure out most of what I ne...

Re: RC10 Goldpan ESC advice
Hi all, New member here in the Indy area. Mine is a classic "I found our childhood cars in the basement" story. Got the DS and T2 up and running with updated transmiter/receivers ("They don't have crystals anymore?!"). 25 years later and these are still fun, and my boys are havi...

Re: RC10 Goldpan ESC advice
Thanks all. I'll add some pictures in due course - looks like HIEC format photos from an iPhone don't work on here. @JosephS, are you referring to the white nylon for the battery holder, or simply all of the white nylon? Even compared to my DS and T2, this car does seem brittle! I mean all of the w...

Re: RC10 Goldpan ESC advice
The 1060 is a pretty good esc, nice and simple. But if you want to spend a little more, the 1080 is a huge upgrade. It has a higher current capacity and is programmable, with a ton of features.

Re: RC10 Goldpan ESC advice
Thanks. Read up on your gp build by the way- looked amazing! Did you ever get to the body? The thread left me hanging. I have six gold pan buggies and all have bodies, but I assume that you are referring to this one (from the "what did you do" thread). Screenshot_20230814_201302_Samsung I...

Re: RC10 DS steering wander - won't return to center, not trim issue
Also check for looseness in the linkage connections. Ball studs not seated, ball cups loose on ball studs, etc. Bell cranjs fitting sloppy on pivot shafts.

Re: RC10 DS steering wander - won't return to center, not trim issue
I'd take apart the servo saver side and make sure it's all cleaned up and working properly. Sounds like its gunked up and not returning properly and the spring is too loose. When you rebuild it, crank the spring nut down.

Re: RC10 DS steering wander - won't return to center, not trim issue
Forgot to mention the aluminum threads can be really hard if not clean so it feels like you are tight, but the threads are just jammed. Little bit of grease helps here.

Re: RC10 DS steering wander - won't return to center, not trim issue
He is using the original servo saver, bellcrank arrangement.
When they get janky, I glue them together and put a HD servo saver on the servo itself.

Re: RC10 DS steering wander - won't return to center, not trim issue
Is the servo properly centered when installing it? If you are using a lot of trim, that could be effecting it. Also, Futaba 3003's are known for centering issues. The older S148 was much better. I have several 3003's and they don't center fairly often. But I'm just bashing around, so it doesn't matt...

Re: RC10 DS steering wander - won't return to center, not trim issue
looking at the input arm for the servo saver, it does not look to be returning to the same spot after being turned left and right, so my checks would be at the servo (worn case/gear, etc) and at the ball joints connecting the servo arm to the servo saver. The tolerances were never all that tight, bu...

Re: RC10 DS driving tips
If the car spins out when you lift firstly check for drag in the driveline, if there is none then dial the drag brake down. Make sure your front ahocks aren't too soft and try to take grip off the front of the car. Or the rear end is set up too stiff.

Re: RC10 Goldpan ESC advice
The only thing I’m really wondering about is wheels And tires - any recs? JC Racing has wheels that use modern 2.2 tires. Even though they are in GB, they ship pretty fast. Just be sure to get rears for 1/4" axles. And pay attention to which fronts you get. Wide fits standard 2.2 fronts, while...

Re: RC10 Goldpan ESC advice
The Stealth lube is for the ball diff, not the bearings. It is still available, part #6591. But any ball diff grease works. I normally use Arrowmax 210211 because it's easy to find and the tube is easier for me to use. For bearings, I use Lucas fishing reel oil. Fishing reel bearing oil is easy to f...
