That's high end stuff right there! My first collection of RC tools was just an oddball collection of kit included Allen keys, stamped steel spanners and Tamiya socket tools, along with the household kitchen drawer Phillips screwdriver and pliers. I've evolved just a bit since those days however!

I just finished a total overhaul of my TC3 and nearly all of the parts I wanted to replace are discontinued by AE. eBay had some of them but some are simply NLA. That's a great idea! I hadn't even thought of drilling and tapping new holes offset from the original location. I already have an M3 tap too, so my net cost would be ZERO! Probably the best and least expensive solution. I think I'll try this and report back when done.
