Re: Delta Super-J electric 1/8 project

Thanks The hole at the chassis was done with a jigsaw and sanded. As most of the chassis work. Actually I went with a square sheet of glasfibre pan and went from there. For sanding the hole I used sandpaper 180 which was glued to a 2" round wood. Works pretty good and fast. But it´s a lot of du...

Re: The Vintage 1/8 Onroad Thread

The Serpent rear wheels are MK3 and early Quattro indeed. The hex inside was introduced later when they made their first quick release system. I personally had a MK3 and an early Quattro back in the days. I started with an used MK3 Super Pro and changed to a Quattro one year later. In the beginning ...

Re: Delta Super-J electric 1/8 project

Thanks. Well the photo shows the car from the top. But hides some secrets  The original Super-J used a quite stiff chassis design. Especially at the rear what isn´t perfect at all. But most 1/8 cars were like that. I wanted to keep the overall look close to the original car but that doesn´t me...

Re: Delta Super-J electric 1/8 project

... or a more ambitious modified WOIN design like a Montica P8C or Serpent 988e Taipan. The Motonica and all the other 1/8 cars designed that way don´t handle very well. At least if they use the typical stiff rear end and the connection rod which replaces a center shock. The Taipan is an advanced d...

Re: Delta Super-J electric 1/8 project

A spool or solid rear axle needs less maintenance than a balldiff but it doesn´t do any good to the handling of a car. I never liked the front spool at touring cars and always preferred the oneway. For current 1/8 cars they need to be driven completely different and it´s absolutely not to my liking ...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

1/10 pan car. unknown chassis.7.JPG I found an old thread (10 years old) on a car very much like one I recently got. https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=28626 Also found the same car on RCTECH, same person posting the same car. There was really no consensus on the manufacturer. Unknown chassis...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

Right when the first Revolution motors were available, I got a prototype motor for the Brutus. This was one of my fastest motors ever.
Faster than the 2x15T Insane. But also the production motors were great.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

Yes all of the early Revolution motors got the yellow label. But the Brutus was not the only Triple wind. The first motors released were the Oval which was a Triple 17T and a Double 19T which name I don´t remember currently. Later there was the Insane and the Brutus. My prototype motors were the Tri...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

I have my original WetMag IV which came with the engravings from when i opened the packet so I can confirm they were there from the factory. They all look the same. I have a WetMag IV, WetMag II and an I now all of which have them. I actually make a point of looking out for the markings now and if ...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

Just for reference, here are two early pre-Yokomo endbells which have been converted to slot brushes. This service was offered by Checkpoint and sold through Bolink. slot igarashi.jpg I have located these two after much hunting but still haven't sealed the deal to get my hands on them yet....if any...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

There was not just one brand. At some point I knew the size but don´t remember now. But also I´m not a slot expert. Just knew what Jim told me or what I found. But old brain is fading. Usually slot brushes don´t have a shunt wire as it´s with R/C motors. There were a few but not much. From what I he...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

Yes Team Checkpoint was founded by Bill Steube and Jim Greenemeyer was working there. At some point Bill wanted to retire and Jim bought the name then. That´s what I heard from Jim himself. But Bill and his son Mike later started a new company Pro Slot. In the UK there was also a company Pro Slot, b...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

Regarding slot motors, I have exactly one armature. Brandnew in tube and still in bag. I bought it a couple years ago because I wanted to compare with R/C armature and because it´s one of my favorite motor brands ... Checkpoint. It is one of the rare Checkpoint armatures of the Greenemeyer era, beca...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

I never have heard about a Reedy BK motor before but I think at this time I was more interested in Trinity or HPI based motors. And made a couple of conversions for my own needs. Do you have pics for that special armature? And what timeframe was this? Well I´m asking this for a reason. First, I thin...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

Dinglem
Thanks for PM.

Well I just found the motor which was made by MIH.
Even when the can looks similar to the Trinity or Sping, it is different. Based on an Igarashi again.
But look at the endbell. it looks like a shrunk Yokomo endbell. Shrunk for slot brushes.
