This morning we got the links built. Probably my least favorite part of the build.

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
This is turning out superbly, keep it up! Thanks, we made some more progress on it last night. I will get more pictures up today. Can I ask you which exact ultrasonic cleaner and sand ("light"?) blasting gear you are using, assuming this is not industrial-grade stuff? I actually need to g...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
We didn't get too much work done on this today as we had to make some emergency repairs to my son's Rustler instead. However, we did get a bit farther along on the front end:

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
Today we got the bellcranks all cleaned up and ready to install on the chassis. The hardest part was finding two decent white nylon 4-40 nuts. bellcranks.jpg bellcranks2.jpg It seems that we are nearing the point were I need to break down and open the NIP b stamp chassis that I have been hoarding fo...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
Last night we got the front end mounted to the chassis. Other than shocks, I think we just need to add a bumper and body mounts before we move onto the back end.

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
Today I noticed that the manual that we have been using calls for two 4-40 x 1/4" button head screws to hold the front body mounts to the mount brace. I have three sets of these mounts and braces in my parts bin, and all of them have 4-40 x 1/2 button head screws holding the mounts to the brace...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
I use the non-flanged bearings in the truck rear hubs. With the universals I usually run 1-2 spacers between the axle and the inner bearing so the pin is snug but doesn't inhibit free spinning. Thanks for the info. It turns out that I have lots of flanged bearings and spacers but no 1/4" beari...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
Since the last update we have made a bit more progress on the back of the truck: back_end4.jpg back_end5.jpg I noted earlier in this thread that I couldn't find any decent white nylon 4-40 flanged nuts in my parts bin, and it seems they are no longer available from AE. However, I was able to source ...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
The nylon nuts are from Essentra Components. The 8-32 ones are part number 0700832LN or 0700832SLN. The 4-40 ones are part number 0700440SLN or 0700440LN. I believe the difference between the two sets of part numbers is that the 's' variant is self-threaded. They are also listed as white instead of ...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
We have not made too much progress lately as we are waiting for a few bits to arrive that I did not have in the parts bin. However, we did get the battery cup, antenna mount and rear arms installed: back_end6.jpg battery_cup.jpg I didn't have a decent set of hard anodized shocks so I fished a set ou...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
What medium did you blast the outdrives with? We used the aluminum oxide media that came with our Chinese knock-off of the Paasche Air Eraser. The real stuff is the Paasche AEX-6 aluminum oxide – fast cutting compound. How old is your son? My boy will be 4 in a few months. He loves my RC vehicles, ...
