I wanted to start a thread for Tamiya Egress enthusiasts. This is easily my favorite buggy of all time from Tamiya. Whoever designed this mean-looking buggy hit a homerun. It looks so fast and awesome right out of the box.
This is my all-out 2022...

I’ve not been here much lately, but thought I’d share my latest build. It’s a 2013 released kit, that I sourced some reproduction BF8/9 parts, and blue rod ends to replicate the original release. Other than these, and blue wheel nuts  , the...
I built a Sand Scorcher (2010 re-release) for a vintage class race on a clay track, with the following modifications:
- Kamtec lexan body & black ABS mechanism box
- 12 mm hex adapters for modern wheels
- Softer DIY 2 mm brass torsion bars
- Tamiya...

I've been trying to think how to start this thread for a few weeks , the Sand Rover was my first RC car, I've got very mixed feelings about it, it got me started in this great hobby, it supplied the radio gear that I used in every car...

Hi All,
I recently picked up a nicely hopped up MIP SRB which is added to the list of my projects.
I don’t recognize the nerf bars or chassis plate. The nerfs have an additional section of tubing that is different from others I’ve seen.
Can anyone...

Rather than start a new thread I’m adding photos of an RCH wing I’ve had for a while. Does anyone know if this was originally made for the SRB or another car? It will end up on a SRB project either way!
20230218_172014.jpg I'm hoping I can get a little help in the way of a measurement , I'm slowly restoring a Sand Rover and both the rear body mounting clips have broken off , now I can see the cross section of it but I need to know how high up the...

I guess the bit your asking about is broken off where the rectangle is. So mine are broken too?
Yes you have it correctly , the rectangle is where it's broken off , I'm...
Guys, I need your opinion on a F103 car I bought today.
Never have seen such car but I´m far from being a F103 expert.
I just knew this is not the typical F103 car.
Beside the t-bar it´s full graphite with the battery located inline. So a different...

I´m not an expert at all for the Tamiya Formula cars.
But I got the message it looks like a F104W which it does. Beside all of the option parts.
The seller also told me he exchanged many of the parts for graphite. So it looks like this way.
Here are great tips I have learned along the way to get the most out of your stock grasshopper!
1. Ball bearings .
2. Secure the battery cover with a plastic servo saver horn . (Simple way to prevent your battery from flying out)
3. Use very fine...
Put this together recently, thought some of you might like it.
I love the grasshopper, but it needs a little help.
A friend developed some conversion parts for grasshopper 2. I decided to adapt them for the original.
Via a direct link from a member of this forum (Thanks Dadio!), I ended up in possession of an Extratoy Holiday Buggy. This is known to be a clone of the Tamiya Holiday Buggy, and sure, that is probably true, but at the same time, I wasn't there, so...

I think the appeal to the copy would be very similar to the appear of the Tamiya Holiday Buggy , what the kid really wanted was a Rough Rider but that's mucho expensive so the parent gets the Holiday buggy , if the kid accepts the Rough Rider is off...
This will be a buggy, built mostly with Blitzer Beetle parts. More or less, a Bear Hawk.
For this car, I'm using as many new parts as possible. So far, the only used parts are the red carriers and servo mounts (already had them). The electronics...

Looking good! Man I had forgotten all about the SPIKE esc. Installed of of those in a friend's car before, I think it was a super blackfoot.
Looks a lot like a Holiday Buggy but with toy grade RTR electronics ? Never knew it existed , pretty cheap , shame the chassis is not identical as it's not broken
back in 1986 when i was a young teen, i picked up a Blackfoot and proceeded to bash the heck out of it. i had a great time running and working on it, but in 1991 i put my rc cars in a box and there they sat for the next 30 years. i've decided to get...

sorry for the long delay in posting more, i've been busy with some other projects, including building a Kyosho Turbo Scorpion re-re.

This is my shelf display Hornet using the AMPRO adaptors for using Kyosho rims and Good Year branded tires.
My next project is to transfer the tires to an old school RC10 (I think the fronts and rears are a direct fit).
This is my 4WD iteration of the Grasshopper II in Black Special edition.
The aftermarket shocks which I had laying around were a nice fit, with a level ride height, and plenty of travel.
I little bit more heavy shock oil (currently 45 wt) in the...

Thank you! The body off shows a fairly standard Thundershot chassis. Tamiya sealed ball bearings and an on-road receiver case to keep the dirt out and the ESC in front of the airflow.
What is the hierarchy of Tamiya chassis? I am interested in the road/rally cars. I noticed on Amain that prices are all over the place, with some as low as $110 with motor and ESC. The TT02 is sometimes listed as a road car and sometimes as a rally....

Here is one of mine.
It has Spaz Stix color change, backed in gunmetal (normally backed in black).

The Spaz Stix has a somewhat metallic finish on its own but the metallic gunmetal amplifies it.
Got this literally thrown in with a banana box of RC I bought off a local guy, was going to throw it out but noticed it had bearings and never tinkered with one before.
Stumbled across a locally produced bodyshell in a rc shop clearance bin for...

That's a great little car , you just have to love em for what they are :D , even my more extreme conversion does not make it a racer .
The Tamiya VW New Beetle FWD FF01. I never expected this one to put a big smile on my face. Item number is 58217 and originates back from 1998. I finally fixed a broken steering block that kept me running the Beetle for a decade.
This one is fun!...

I have a New Beetle too that I purchased back in 2000. I recently made a few upgrades including adding the Castrol Civic body which I think looks great.
Gotta love the authentic Tamiya bodies. Nice work there!
I got a Rough Rider back when I was a kid. Not really sure what age I was though. I would have to say maybe early 80’s. Did they make a reproduction of this model? If so how can you tell which one you have? Thanks for any help!!

That's pretty complete from a restoration point of view , looks like your guess of early 80s is good , it's not the very earliest production parts from what I can see but it looks like you only really short of wheels ,tires and a body .
Was driving my Lunchbox last night and noticed noise coming from the gearbox .Not a grinding sound but growling , it happens in both forward and reverse . I thought it was just the tires on the floor but I picked it up and spun the rear wheels and...

I have to be honest here; I never saw a Holiday Buggy until about 6 months ago. Back in the day, the only Tamiyas I paid attention to were trucks, and I was out of RC when the Re-Res came out, so yea, just never knew they existed. Then I saw one,...

The Golden Arrow body is awesome on there! The holiday buggy body reminds me of a stretched VW Manx buggy, kinda like Speed Buggy.
I noticed a hairline crack forming on the front shock tower (in the place they always crack). I've seen 3D towers that might be better, but thought of a different approach.

Those are nice looking shocks on there. Are those Tamiya?
Thanks, and yep, 53926 DF-03 Aluminum Damper Set, they fit perfectly, I'm using the stock Blitzer springs though for proper handling.
For the mono-shock Thunder Dragon or Thundershot, what are the best adjustments and modifications when building and running the car? I just got one (and want to keep the mono-shock design). I would like to get the best handling out of this buggy if...

That is what I had in mind :). Thanks for attaching the clear-cut-out image.
Because I'm an idiot and refuse to admit defeat, I'm making my Supershot Re-Re go AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. This does also involve handling better than stock, I.E. like a brick on ketamine. To that end, I've already done some mods to it:

I have a trf102 and enjoy it. Was thinking about getting an older Collectable f1 car. Any thoughts on f201 vs. road wizard other than the 2wd vs 4wd difference? Or is there another f1 to considered. Might use it for light use but mostly a shelf queen

Hello . I am getting ready to assemble a sand scorcher kit. Any comments on is it worth installing the ball diff upgrade #54897. Thanks.

as above , it works on hard surfaces but they tend to come loose as the adjustment is not on a nylock nut as usual but has a screw with dry locktight , you need additional locktight on the screw or it works loose and you loose drive .
Hi,
I am looking for the front damper mounts from the 1989 Tamiya Egress :
BF8 (4305247), BF9 (4305246) and BF4 (2x).
Original or reproduction.
Thanks in advance !
