Is it safe to charge a lipo pack that is already run down some, or do I need to discharge it compleatly first? Also what is the best way to store them, and is there any maintence to do to them while in storage? Winter is coming and I'm not sure what...

Just store them fully charged, and remember to charge them every few months.
Let me start by saying that I have no intention of doing this, but just asking. It's about a 25 minute drive each way for work so my mind just kinda wanders(well it does while at work too). I was just wondering if in theory you could run two escs...

Just about to pick up a equinox lipo cell ballancer and a venom 3c 4000mah battery to use with my duratrax onyx 230 charger. What I want to know is does anyone here use this combo and should it work tougether? Also what are some safe rates to charge...

The battery is a 3c. A little confusing at first but I think I will have no trouble after the advice. Thanks by the way. Tried a 3c lipo the other day, what a difference with the velineon brushless, friggin tires spun so fast they balooned up and...
I'm currently racing indoors with my touring car on a small carpet track but would like to make a return to running outdoors offroad - possibly using the Worlds RC10 project car that I am in the process of re-building.
The touring car has...

Thanks guys - some real food for thought :)
As it would appear I may already have a suitable system, in which to swap across from the touring car - I might aswell use that & see how the car goes first before commiting to buying new & expensive kit.
Can you run more conventional batteries with a brushless setup, or do I need to run lipo? Was going to go with a traxxas velion brushless setup and having to buy that and a good lipo at the same time is a bit much.
Last post
Yep you def can run older batteries with them. I remember when the Mamba mini systems first came out they would shutter when you started if you used crumby batteries. It had to do with the amp draw and that the bad cells couldn't feed it but other...
I was thinking of upgrading to lipo batteries and have a charger capable of charging them( duratrax onyx 230). It does not ballance them. Do lipos have to be ballanced or can you run them without doing so? What are the advantages to ballancing? What...

I have this Radio does anybody know if any other 2.4GHz recivers will work with it? it came with a Futaba R603FF 3-Channel 2.4GHz FASST Rx but their almost a 100 bucks a pop. I didnt think about that when I bought it. but people want about the same...
I live in the days of old school AM and FM radios with crystals. I have been looking into buying a new radio but what is the deal with these new radios and the technology. I see different radios out there and many say they can program multiple...

Yeah, it does. Trust me, I've pushed the + button many times on the 3.0 in the EPA mode to know they don't travel far enough.
Lets say you have a 1500mah lipo battery and the same 1500mah in other types of batteries. What will be the difference in run time? . Any difference in the lipo batteries made for airplanes vs the ones made for cars or boats? There is so many...

Yea runtime is what I'm after as there is no racing aruond here. What determines the runtime the pack will give me, the MAH? Does the same apply to non lipo batteries?
nimh batteries lose alot of energy as heat, lipos last longer for the same...
I got a couple new Hitec servos a while back and I'm installing the in some cars (and I LOVE spending time routing the wires so everything is neat and clean and tidy) and I forgot what a pain those twisted servo leads are to work with. The flat ones...

Yep, I've done the same with ESCs too. It's amazing how much better an old servo or ESC look with a new harness!!
i saw a good price (imo) on an smc saddle lipo to use in my yz10 at the nats. but, the jumper wire looks kinda short. does anyone have one of these packs, and a yz10? do they fit?
even a measurement of the jumper wire length would probably work.

They will almost drop right into a YZ10 870C. I run 4900 SMC's in my B44 and with a little modification they will slip right into the Yoke. First the jumper wire will have to face forward, then the motor side battery hold downs are almost a perfect...
I've read a lot on this and there are a lot of different stories. Now that this stuff has been out a while I wanna see if anyone has a better point of view. I have a Castle Sidewinder and two Mamba Maxs all with Castle 5700kv motors. They are way...

I have had about 12 Tenergy packs most have which either exlpoded at one time or just overheated. In this case you get what you pay for. I have a couple 3800 packs that have lasted about two years now that I run in my Clodbuster just using the low...
I recently posted updates on my truggy about hitting the salt water with my brushless. Sorry for the double post, but I thought I would get more feedback with a new thread. The first thing I noticed was that the lipo was swollen. Don't ask why, but...

If it is ruined send it to Castle before buying a new one. I'm sure their warranty doesn't cover sea water, but they may charge you a lot less for a new one. Be warned though, I think their repair schedule is pretty backed up so it will be gone...

The Spektrum DX2.0 DSM 2.4Ghx. has been doing well for me these last couple months. It's a solid entry level 2 channel system in 2.4Ghz and can be found for $99.00 at it's cheapest. The Rx has a very short antenna so you can avoid cutting a hole in...
Firstly I would like to suggest that it is advisable for you to support your local hobby shop. There's no replacement for being able to go down to the lhs and discuss some difficulty you are having with your newly bought equipment. If you don't...
Ok, I'll try to keep the story part of this short. About a week or so ago I wrecked my 12L4. Tagged a post on the tennis court and spun it around. When it came to rest, no movement. When I retrieved the car, the ESC case was opened, not broke, just...

I'm going to buy a Novak Havoc Combo, but I'm debating between a 8.5, 10.5, and 13.5 turn motors. I want my car to be quick but mainly want to use it on a motocross track and run time and controllability is the most important aspects for me.

I think you'll definately like it. If for some reason you don't let me know why.
By the way , Orion says you don't need to balance their Lipo packs. I wonder why their advice is different??
I've been contemplating the switch to lipo, but one of the things hoolding me back is the number of esc's I have in various models, none of which have any low voltage cutoff to protect the battery.
I found these little devices on ebay and figured I...

They work great for slash spec racing as well, as the XL-5 is not compatible with the Novak LVCs.
Well the time has come. My 90s novak charger can't charge thease 4500A batters. and all it can get in them is about 12 to 1600A which is about 2 min of run time on a 10 turn motor.
So what out there? I what a charger that can do them all. Becouse...

I have been on the fence between both of these systems for about a month. I plan on putting in my FT B4 and also upgrading to lipo. It looks like when it is all said and done the Sidewinder is a little more expensive due to the USB programming...

My neigbor is moving and gave me all his old RC stuff-mostly late 80's/early 90's. Included was a couple of used Clodbusters-probably enough to make one runner with a bunch of parts left over. Also in the box was a working T-4 ESC. I was going to...

It's got to be an early esc, due to the controller chip, the NE544, it's a servo controller. Alot of the DIY controllers used it with a modified circuit to make it an esc controller. They are obsolete, and it wouldn't surprise me if the first esc...

What do you guys think of this setup with the original tranny? The only reason I want to go VXL is because it is about 75 bucks cheaper than other BL systems. Also, I think it is a decent system.

I have 2 VXL systems and can't complain about them. A 2 cell 4000mah is more than enuf for overkill on the rc10 but hey...if you want to break parts put a 3cell in it  .

Can you mix and match brushless ESC and motor manufacturers or do they have to be the same? I ask as I am pretty close to buying an LRP Sphere ESC and wondered if I can successfully run a sensored motor from another manufacturer with it?
Thanks.

Yeah if it's cogging on low turn motors it's the batteries, nothing can stop cogging with a 17.5 unless they figure out a way to avoid it with the software.
Sensored/sensorless makes no difference once the motor is spinning, even some sensored...
