I've been carefully trimming and mounting a body and have come to the part where I have problems/mess up... the front post. I don't want to mess up at this point because it's coming out really nice.
Can you guys give me some tips and or help?

While I had all the tools of mass destruction out, how about some vents in the windows!
I like those vent holes! I just might have to borrow this idea ... lol thanks man!
Can somebody help me identify exactly what body this is?
And even better yet, does someone happen to have one NIB? I know that’s probably a longshot but I love the lines of this old-school Monstertruck body....

I thought you could only make a mold from new bodies that haven't been cut out yet.
I was planning on taping any holes up and reinforcing them. Once the plaster of paris dries, sand away.
I dug this truck body out of my lost and found, wondering what the maker/model is. There's no mold marks anywhere. It's a bit dusty but in good condition.
I'm quite pleased with this one , I rather botched the first Dogfighter body I made for my YZ-834b so I had another go , I'm still waiting for the decals but this is what I have so far.
Does anyone know if Autographics ever made MIP decals as parts of their mini sheets series? If not Autographics, did vintage circular MIP logo decals ever exist?
Thanks
Often the back curl of an RC10 tub gets the corner tweaked. Also on a DS, I have 4 of 6 nose plates with tweaked corners. Even some RC10 Nose plates can get a bad tweak from a hard it. But especially for my DS nose plates that are so hard to find a...

I'd avoid using heat on alloy as it could un temper it , aluminium needs to be accurately heated to a temp then cooled slowly to retemper it after heating , it's kind of the opposite to steel and you don't want to end up with it soft as cheese .
I am, by no means a professional painter but have painted lexan bodies in many scales over the years... many years. I've done 1/24 and HO scale slot car bodies, starting in the late 60's.
This is going to be as much as a step by step of my way of...

Well, I was going to get all fancy like and use an airbrush but my equipment was in sad shape... bummer. I'll have to pick up a new one or try to rebuild it. To keep moving forward and have a painted body for this month's (Feb) build contest I...
Who makes good paint masks?. Hard to find ones that ship to Canada.
Thanks.

you might check with MCI Racing CA. I've never asked them about masks but they make reproduction vinyl RC decals so they may be able to help. Plus, they're Canadian.
Does anybody enjoy painting/trimming bodies for cash? That's the part I hate about the build. I'm looking at a Team A&L 1/10 Roadkill Outlaw truck oval body to put on an RC10 chassis. Paint doesn't need to be anything extravagant, maybe a metallic...
Anybody ever use or buy a body from this co.? I have seen several of their bodies and they look pretty wondering if anyone has any first hand experience. :?:

Oh I was using the eBay app on my phone so it doesn’t show that.
I'm not a fan of liquid mask myself. Someone with more experience with it might be able to give more insight, but usually, when using liquid mask, you draw your design on the outside of the body. Once the liquid mask dries, you can see through it to...
I've been trying to increase my painting skills (or lack of). This is my latest attempt. At five colors, it's the most different paints I've used on one body---2 rattle cans and 3 with airbrush. I saw a 10T online that was similar to this and just...
This was when StaticX was kind a big deal and was doing concerts all over the place. Just so happens they like RC cars as well! Team Associated Presented this MGT to them as a gift for cross promoting. Cool Mag coverage as well.
Newbie air brusher and watched the beginner vids. Yes I pushed down and pulled back on the trigger.
I recently purchased a new dual action airbrush/compressor kit for modeling off ebay. Here is the link:
I tried shooting the Parma faskolor and...

If you are going to thin Faskolor or Createx Based paints, use the reducer made for the paints. Createx #4012 reducer not only thins the paints but also does not water down the pigments in your paints like other solvent based liquids do.
So a design I picked out was too hard to do with just liquid mask and I didnt feel like buying an airbrush setup so I went with the sharpie pen route. I've done a few test sprays on another body with a red and black sharpie to see what back spray...
This is my Bolink Invader with a Bolink Porsche body. Just finished throwing some decals on it after a few coats of paint. Not sure about my choice of colors but I'm pretty happy overall with the results. I've been toying with outlining the body...

I realized afterwards that if I had used black instead of blue, it would have been the colors of the German flag. Which might not be bad on a Porsche.
I have a hard time getting MCI to reply to my questions. I am looking for about 5 decal sheets (and don't mind paying!). Does anyone know A good place to get them?. Just looking for XXX Spec, XXXT, Jr T and B3 sheets.
Thanks for any help!.

Painting is overrated. Let someone else do it.

When I saw the topic something else came to mind and I was just going to tell you that it was completely natural and it just means you're growing up...
I'm looking to replicate the paint job done on an old RC10 that was done in RC Car Action by Steve Pond. The car first appeared in an early issue in an article called Modifying you RC10 . It reappeared (now with orange dyed suspension arms) in a...
I have my usual 3-tone paint job I do... Simple thirds... sometimes front to back, sometimes back to front. Maybe do things at an angle. Just looking to up my game a little.
Anyone have any good simple rattle can tricks to get some good effects?...

That marble effect sounds cool. I think I may have to give that a try! Thanks.
Had this body for literally AGES...... and would like to ID it to offload it.
Has a label on the front which reads:

I found my catalog that has this body. Here's the ad with the body painted. In addition, I'm also posting a picture of the buggy body...fugggggggly
Ugh...that buggy body looks like it was born premature, a fetus of a body...
Here is a Cliff Lett replica I just finished on a RC18T. Let me know what you think.

Very cool. I just bought a replica off ebay from the following seller. Perhaps he has stickers for you. I'm guessing he's on here given how much vintage RC10 stuff he sells.
Anybody sucessfully strip polycarb paint from a body and have the new paint job turn out good? What did you use? I have a couple bodies that are in decent shape just with nasty paint schemes.

- Orange/Citric Acid Stripper (cannot remember the manufacturer) works, but will damage the plastic, almost like pulls a layer of the lexan away and leaves a raised surface (best way I can describe it)
Okay, I'm not a pro, let's just clear the air on that one.
I snapped a photo of my unpainted body with just 4 pieces of masking tape on it and posted it on one of my local off road tracks facebook page. It sparked some questions, so I thought I'd...

Nice tutorial. One comment though (bolding mine):
I use water based paints, there's not precautions needed for ventilation . I use a BBQ box with the side cut out for a painting booth.
Either paint outside where there is enough ventilation,...

Rit standard dyes I haven't had any luck with lately. It used to be my go to. The Dyemore is fabulous on nylon. I was shocked how well and how quickly my fiberglass towers took also. In the past, even the good old stuff took forever. The Dyemore...
Anybody know who makes a good looking asphalt modified body? I've seen similar bodies before, but can't find one now. The modified dirt oval bodies are downright ugly. Thx.

That's exactly what I was looking for, thx. Don't know why they call it an 'SK Modified'.
I absolutely hate painting bodys because I suck at it...especially the masking part.

Have you tried liquid mask? If not I lay the masking tape inside on the windows and trace out with a pen . Holding the body up to a light when tracing helps to.

I don't have a pic, but there was a guy I used to race with had a car that had a 'typical' race scheme BUT it looked like the paint was being peeled off by speed and the front looked like bare metal.
I did a quick search, but didn't see any Star Wars related paint schemes. I think the buggy bodies (cab in the rear), kind of resemble an X-wing. Went with a Resistance style scheme. Had a few spots bleed through, but I was rushing and had not paint...

Not that I would know though.... Its been years sinse I saw a star wars movie, not counting the newest,, but I dont much remember it either!
Its been probably 2 or 3 years ago, the lhs was clearing out some rc car paints, because the company went under, or was sold,, or something. So, like a dumbass, I let it set for 2-3 years, and then get a notion to try and paint. Some funky colors,...

Thanks! I like the pattern, but those gold and copper colors just kinda flop for me. Good luck on your paint. Im going to soak my spray cans in hot water this time and see if that softens them up inside any.
Hi, I apologize if that subject was treated on this forum... but I looked for quite a long time in vain. Same on the web. The idea would be to try something different to dress up my Rockies. they have an apparently unusual wheelbase of 265mm (sounds...

Decided to try and see how this paint might work for tinting windows. I used the orange I had works great haze dries to transparent hair dryer helps to speed the process, ran out of the blue. Some examples.
works great on lexan gear cover also.

Interesting, I'll have to check this paint out. I like the blue tint.
I'm restoring a Turbo Scorpion, and I have a problem with blue paint for box-art version :|
I can't manage to determine which spray paint would be as near as possible of box-art blue for this car.
Hi all and thanks for the add,
I am currently restoring a vintage original Rc10 buggy and want to do a box art paint job,
Just wondering if anyone can steer me in the right way as too what Tamiya poly carbonite paint best matchs the rc10 orange?...

Search the site for Box Art paint.
Tamiya Camel Yellow is pretty close if you want to use a can.
